Get used to seeing the Check Engine light!
This has been a fine vehicle except for one major flaw, which is a recurrent P1446 engine code that is caused by a stuck valve in the evaporative emissions system. My dealer has tried multiple times to fix the issue. There is a now a Service Bulletin on the subject, but Nissan won't pay to fix my Pathfinder; the dealer wants $750. This is my third new vehicle; the previous Chevy truck and Subaru WRX each had a total of 1 visit to the dealer. That's for 100000 miles on the Chevy and 67000 miles on the Subaru so far. The Pathfinder has been to the dealer a dozen times already. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

One Wonderful high school present!
i got this vehicle in march for a present as a new sophmore. this suv is great! i can fit all my friends in it comfortably and they enjoy it too. it turns heads when i pull into the parking lot, and everyone is jelous of the backup camera. i own a red LE 4x4, its great in the snow and has enough power to get me back from those secret trips to pheonix from flagstaff in time ;) i also own a chevy cobalt.

Capable 4x4 truck
Bought the V8, LE, 4 x 4 last Oct. 2007. Wanted the Titan V8 and transmission as I already own a 2004 Titan, now with 26,000miles on it. Very reliable, engine is very strong. Exhaust note is quieter than my Titan. Backup camera is cool ( especially when hooking up a trailer ). I'm 6 ' 2" so it is just a little tight for me inside, but still comfortable on three hour drives to Las Vegas. Have off-roaded with it here in Arizona in the sandy washes, and it just blasts right through it all. Silverton blue and custom rims, and good off-road tires really set it off. I don't watch the gas mileage that much, but one trip to Vegas registered 22mpg on the computer. I like it way better than my old 2003 Tahoe.

Great Value
I bought a 2008 in Jan, the features are out of this world, every gadget you will need. The cab is quiet, a little smaller than my 06 Pilot but enough room for my family. I would suggest this SUV to people looking to buy a Infiniti FX. It has more room but the same features

I have some regrets
We originally purchased our 2008 pathfinder SE because of its exterior design, 3rd row seating V6 engine and nice interior features for the price ($23677) We have 1658 miles...only and the "Service Engine Soon" warning appeared suddenly. I called the dealer and they said it was because of the fuel cap not being locked properly. They said to lock it properly and after a few stops/starts light should go away... One week later... nothing has happened. I have closed and retightened fuel cap, checked fluid levels, tire pressure...and light does not go away. Dealer said to bring in vehicle... Dealer is 150 miles away from where I live. Also I have to agree with the hard shift in the transmission when one reaches speed of 40-45 mph. If you drive above 45 in the city (freeway)and begin to slow down, the transmission produces a hard shift that is becoming very annonying. I sold my Chevy Trailblazer (and now regret it)... 75000 miles and the only problem I ever had was dead battery. Chevy no longer makes 3rd row trailblazer with lots of room. Finally...two of my relatives own Pathfinders (2007 and 2008). Both have had recent transmission problems...with one relative getting a new pathfinder because of persistent transmission problems.

Tremendous Value for the money
The SE with the premium and leather package is quite impressive. The Bose radio system and available integrated XM radio make the commute enjoyable. I have seen some reviews complain about a tight fit in the back seat for adults. There is ample room and the seats recline for more comfort. I did add the side air bag feature which is fairly standard. This is has an impressive profile and the interior is well put together. Some may say there is not enough HP but if you want to drive fast get a sports car. Getting on the highway is no problem for this vehicle. Acceleration is firm and powerful. The available third row seating is most flexible that have seen. The ride is not as refined as the luxury SUVs. If you want great value and a solid combo of versatility and amenities, the pathfinder delivers.

The Most Fun To Drive, Handsome SUV And Powerful.
Maybe I'm too soon to give a lots of good point about this SUV. I have Pathfinder SE with leather package, 10 BOSE speakers, Sunroof and reverse camera. All I can say so far that this car is "Awesome". I've been thinking to have Nissan Armada, it was a dream car for me but since it has V8 engine and price of gasoline now kind of crazy and unpredictable, so I have to consider a lot of thing and I'm so happy with my decision . Powerful enough with 4.0 V6 engine, 266 horsepower, great handling and quiet. All the optional make this SUV look sophisticated and good looking. And also I just got 22" rims in it make this car even more great looking, honestly everywhere I go and park the car, wow... this car got a lot of attention from people. And the 2008 version, the trunk door has curve bump that almost like Armada. The interiors is beautiful with a lot of features and kind of computerized and it's totally different from 2007 model. I think if it's still the same with the previous models, pretty sure I'm not gonna buy it. Sorry... but I saw my friend has 2006 model and the interiors look so "Cheap", so plasticy. Here are some of SUV we looked and tried before we bought our car, Nissan Armada which is way too big, Mazda Cx9... I like this one too but the car look so polite almost like sedan or wagon from my opinion, Honda Pilot is more like a soccer moms car or even Toyota 4Runner which is ridiculously have face to face third row seat that make passenger who sit on the back get cramp. So after we did a lot of comparison to some different SUV, all and all, we are very happy with this Pathfinder. We also hope that you guys have the same feeling like us after you buy Nissan Pathfinder 2008, and we think you will.... good luck!

former owner 08 pathfinder owner
Thanks to all those who posted and e-mailed about the 08 pathfinder transmission hard shifting in and out of overdrive between 35 and 45 miles per hour. I finally heard directly from Nissan exec. offices customer service. There is no solution and they don't know when there will be one. They will not put anything in writing or extend the warranty. There is no satifaction from the dealer, factory or any representives. I did the next best thing by getting rid of the pathfinder and buying a Chryler Pacifica with a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty. Its quiet, smooth, better gas mileage and no longer aggrevating. Thanks for all the support and I wish you all good luck on getting your transmissions fixed. They, the Nissan customer service, did say "it is a problem with the module, but don't know the exact cause". I would be glad to give anyone the Nissan customer service number.

transmission at low speed in, out, of overdrive
Vehicle will shift smooth when new, and on test drive, but module self adjusts itself to traffic pattern. If you drive in city traffic 35 to 45 mph you will develop the problem of rough overdrive automatic shifting, and will end up manually shifting to eliminate rough in and out shift of overdrive. Its a very annoying feature "with no cure according to tech. at Nissan" thats a quote. Other than that no faults have been found.
