Bye-Bye Olds
The 2001 Aurora 4.0 was for me a very capable vehicle. Looked a little too much like a Ford Taurus but the car got a lot of unsolicited compliments. The 4.0 Northstar drivetrain was bulletproof - very reliable. The car's interior was well thought out and comfortable. The car did everything well but it didn't quite reach the "WOW" factor for me. After 98k miles I needed a change, so I let it go. New owner got a well cared for car that should provide more years motoring reliablility.

What a great car.
This car has been great...i keep up on all the maintiance on the vehicle i run the engine on amsoil or mobile 1(whatevers in the garage) but other then regular oil changes i havent needed to do much to this vehicle because it has been that reliable. One thing that did go bad on the vehicle is the left rear wheel bearing....but that can be expected with 154,000.

200l Aurora problems I have had
Oil leak at less than 70,000 miles, a head gasket replacement necessary. At 2 years old found my trunk flooded and large puddle rusting jack and spare tire. Warr covered. Before an expensive$1400.00, 100,000 miles warr ran out, sent car in for door leak, water not exiting weep holes, but came out at lower door carpeted areas and flooded drivers side of car with close to 1/2 inch of water frt and back seat areas. This continual problem, with no decent answers from dealers to independents, I'm at wits end. I have to continually clean up the water residue after being caught in any major downpours. Weep holes are not clogged. Does anyone have an answer to this reoccuring nightmare.

Great Ride & Road Feel, Luxury, Tons of Options
Car has a great grip on the road - no sliding around with the long wheelbase that makes you feel comfortable on the highway making a big curve at 65MPG. Tons of fancy gadgets - digital temperature setting, ABS, automatic air leveling, great sounding stereo, even the non-Bose version has great bass. Radio has cassette, single CD, RDS on FM but does not have stereo AM like other GMs did, but has a multi-disc CD player in the trunk! Only beef on this car is that the high voltage on the alternator causes many of the tiny light bulbs to burn out all over the place! Should have used LED bulbs instead. I like how you can have 2 separate settings for two separate drivers and it remembers the settings for the seat, the side mirrors, radio stations, heat/cool temperature, even what shows on the display (like date/MPG/oil pressure/voltage etc). A great ride. V-6 has tire-squealing power of about 215HP - more than enough to move this heavy car. One of the first with SIDE airbags up front too. Huge trunk with little pass-thru door in back seat. Mechanical issues over the lifetime include: power steering pump goes bad, wheel bearings, tie rods get loose, and oil gasket leak. Also, the unit uses a special battery that fits under the back seat (which keeps it from freezing in the winter time!) Built-in alarm system sometimes had a hard time detecting the special key and wouldn't let you start the car! Above average build - very heavy duty car - they don't build them like this anymore, which is too bad. Starts great in cold weather. Car sits kind of low - wish it 'sat up higher' but that's just my preference. A great car if you can find one and put some money into it to bring it up to spec. Lots of fancy toys - better than any foreign car made to this very day.

Be careful!
I am the previous owner of this repossessed vehicle. When it was repossessed back in September of 09, it had several things wrong with it: sun roof had a bad leak needed a major tune up loose fiting wheel cover center piece (made rattling noises when driving Stereo did not work correctly slight crease in driver side door (wife sideswiped something) center console lights did not work (could not see if car was was in drive or reverse or..) had a minor tranny issue...? fog lights did not work

Fantastic Automobile
I bought my Aurora in 2001 it is one of the best cars that I've ever owned. I only have 49700 miles on it and everything runs terrific. It is in excellent condition looks and runs like new. I had an extened warranty on it and anything that needed to be replaced was done in 2007. I'm now in the market for a new car, so if anyone is interested in this please get in touch with me.

Money Pit
I bought this car in Sept of 07, it had 55K miles on it at the time and the carfax report came back clean. The car has been a money pit since. 1000 for an AC repair and now a transmission repair that is looking like about 1800 to 2200 depending if I get the Transmission overhauled or just repaired. Millage now is at 73K. There is no reason for a transmission to need anything other than fluid repalcemet until at least 200K. Other problems multiple lights out, drivers side heated seat does not work, dash lights out, vulum knob on stero broken, lights on steering wheel buttons out. The car looks great and drives great as well but mechanically it is a money pit. The parts are expensive and the labor to get the repair made addes up. The transmission repair listed above will take three days of labor 65 an hour shope rate. Spend the extra money up frount and get a more reliable car! REW

Best Car I have ever owned
They don't come any better than this ...80K on it now and it looks and performs like new. Nothing has needed fixing since I bought it. Average 30mpg on my vacation (2500 miles) 2 wks ago. The features that come with this car are what you expect on BMW's etc. EX. shift in reverse and the pass-side mirror tilts down to see the curb automatically....Power, fit, comfort all very solid...soo reliable I'd buy another if they were still made.

Junk
I've had an 01 3.5 from 70k to 82k. In that time, I now need a new transmission (there is absolutely NO excuse for a transmission to be replaced at 70k), the trunk leaks, the front hubs need replaced, half the interior lights, dash included, work when they're in the mood, tail light LED bar replaced, etc. I bought it from an older relative, who I know for a fact babied this car. I really wanted to like it it, I did. But I can't own a car that costs this much to maintain. Would've been a great car to buy new and sell at 50k.

Very nice car
We bought this car back in 2003 used with 40,000 miles. It was in excellent condition and still is. Although we have had 2 window motors go out and had to replace a water pump. And the dial for the volume control will not stay on and we're had it fixed about 3 times now. But other then those problems its a very good car. It can get up and go when you need it to yet save gas at the same time. And it handles very well on the country roads. Overall its a good car.
