So far, so good...

We purchased our 2006 Grand Prix in 2008 and it had only around 14k miles on it. It was a really good deal and that is why we bought it. It has good performance, but not as much room as our Impala. The ride is pretty good. It has black cloth seats which are impossible to keep clean with 2 kids riding in the back. My son is now a teen and he doesn't have all that much room in the back...and he's not a tall teen. We have had no mechanical problems and it now has about 58k miles. We just replaced the original tires. Mileage has never been as good as our Impala despite them sharing the same 3.8L engine. We would buy this car again if the price was good and mileage low...

Way to go, Pontiac

I've had my 2004 Grand Prix GT for about a year now. This is a great car. It is an affordable, 4 door sedan with enough performance to please most anyone. It's very quiet and comfortable to drive and stylish as well. Fuel economy is in the mid-20's, so I can usually go well over 300 miles on a single tank of fuel. The acceleration from the 3.8-litre is good but not earth-shattering, and there is enough torque to squeal some tire, even with the traction control on. In my opinion, the biggest downside to this car is the transmission. A 4-speed automatic just is not enough for this car. Gear changes can be a little rough, even under moderate acceleration. I would love to see a proper 5-speed manual gearbox in it.

Wow

Wow is the only word that comes to mind when thinking about this car. I rented one and put 5,000+ miles on it in 2 weeks. There is nothing the car does not do well. At 50 to 55 mph I was getting over 32 mpg much to my astonishment. I picked up the car from a major car rental agency as a free upgrade since they didn?t have a Taurus available. I knew nothing of Pontiac Grand Prix GTs. When I first drove it I heard weird noises from the engine. I pulled over to see what sort of engine it was since I had never heard a V8 sound like that. To my amazement when I opened the hood I found a V6 with a supercharger bolted to the top of the engine. The supercharger makes a wonderful machine noise. The acceleration is smooth, constant, and starts the moment you floor the gas pedal. No turbo lag in this car. It is an astounding automobile. The engine is a masterpiece. I hope GM brings back an equivalent in one of the remaining product lines.

Everyone says there good but stay clear

I purchased a 2006 pontiac grand prix with low miles, however 30 days from the day of purchase I found myself having to put a transmission and a rear axle in the car. The car was 8,500. plus taxes then after warrenty help i was still left to pay $571 out of a $1,900 transmission and axle job. I should have never had to pay this considering the car is "safty inspected and certified" Also the car is BAD on gas I thought that the car would be better then my 2001 intrepid but boy was I wrong!

Best Value out there! You can't beat the 3800!

By far the most reliabele engine you can buy for the money. My dad has a Grand Prix, with 230,000 miles and has never had a problem. Lots of horse power and great fuel economy for the money.

Safe, Sporty, and Great Value

I bought my 08 GP about 10 mos. ago. Got a great deal! The one I purchased had all the options/pkgs. available. I loved this car! My son was driving it couple weeks ago and totalled it. He was not hurt except a cut on his forehead and seat belt bruising! He missed a curve hit a reinforced telephone pole going about 50 mph. The EMT and police were amazed at how well the car protected him. Will continue to buy this make/model as long as possible. I wouldn't have my son if the car wasn't designed so well.

Safest Car By Far

I bought a 2006 Grand Prix and had it for 10 months this month. I got into an accident the other day and the person at fault I hit dead on with the front of my car going 50 mph. Then I went through two people's yards and going about 45 or 50 hit a pine tree. My car was totaled. It was the most terrifying experience I've ever had. I only had an abrasion on my hand from the airbag and a cut on my elbow. I used to have a Sunfire. Needless to say I know that this car saved my life because if I still had the Sunfire I wouldn't be here. I would highly recommend this car to any parent for their child or any person for that matter!

best car Ive owned

I just bought a 2006 GP GT and I am very impressed with this car. The supercharged 3800 is alot of fun to drive. The suspension is firm but not harsh. The monsoon sound system is the best Ive heard from a factory system. Overall the car is very attractive. The interior has acockpit feel to it with the instruments all within easy reach. Gas mileage is good considering I like to put my foot in it.

gm got it right

bought used with 30k miles. What a deal. priced great. exterior looks great. interior is well designed and has that cockpit feeling. I'm a big guy and there is plenty of room. inside is very stylish and the construction is excellent. car handles very well. the suspension is tight but not overly harsh. The 3.8 gm six is one of the best motors ever designed and i'm glad to see their still using it. The power curve is smooth and it pulls strong from a stop and up top. This car is what American quality is all about. Thank god GM is coming back around. Great car.
