I absolutely am in love with this car! I really don't want to part with it but a new driver has entered the family and sadly need to make room for that.

The sexiest car on the road
Soon to be a classic. The best color (fire engine red) Porsche has ever produced. Awesome engine performance. Handles corners very well. Cheap to maintain, Great gas mileage for a sports car of this age.

A lot of Performance for little money
I owned a C4 Cabriolet that was just awesome. Getting these cars in the mid 20s to low 30s is one of the best sports car values in the world.

Porsche-there is no substitute
The car is top quality for a everyday car. A lot of bang for the buck, speed and handling. There are absolutely no shakes or rattles, no matter what speed you're at.

Porsche 996: The Best Bang for Your Buck
I had been wanting a Porsche 911 ever since I can remember, but, they?ve always been just out of reach. When you could pick up a decent, air cooled 911 for $15,000, I couldn?t afford that. But, when I reached the point that I could afford that (actually, double), the prices had skyrocketed to unfathomable heights. $40,000 to well into the six figure range depending on what year and condition. Insane, and still out of reach. Except for one? The 996 (made from 1999 thru 2004) is still affordable. You can find these below $10,000 (will need some work) to as high as $56,000 (for an excellent Turbo model). But the average, basic Carrera can be had for an average price of $20,000. But why? Admittedly, but NOT understandably, the 996 is the least popular model of the 911 family. Some think it?s ugly, but, that?s purely subjective. Some think the IMS Bearing is too big of a risk, but there?s a permanent fix for that now. Others hate it because it was the first water cooled 911 made, and the first 911 to be mass produced. Get over yourself. The 996 outperforms any previous 911 with ease. More horsepower, more torque, better handling, better safety features, and so on. It?s simply a better performing, more modern car than any 911 that came before it. But, is that a good thing? I?m a huge fan of classic cars, and I?ll admit that I would rather have a solid 80?s model 911. That desire has nothing to do with performance, safety or comfort. I just love the original body, and the look and feel of a vintage car. So why did I buy a 996? It boiled down to opportunity and a rising market. You see, I missed the boat on three Ferraris I could have purchased. There was a time when a good Ferrari 308 or 328 were affordable, as in $15,000 to $30,000 (depending on condition and model). I had three opportunities to buy three different models, and passed on all for reasons that were valid at the time (at least to me). I?ve watched those cars rise in value from $30,000 to $170,000 in just five years. I wasn?t going to make that mistake again. I found my 996 on cars.com. It was priced at $20,000 and it was immaculate. After contacting the owner, exchanging well over 100 emails and dozens of phone calls, I finally received the car from the other side of the country. It was even better than I had expected. In just the few months I?ve watched the prices on these cars slightly rise. And that?s what?s happening, the market is going up on the 996 because it?s the last affordable 911 available. Give it a couple of more years, and you won?t be able to touch one for less than $40,000. Since I?ve owned the car, I?ve had nothing but fun. The car looks, drives, and runs perfect. On my first day of ownership, I had a random guy at a gas station offer to buy my car. I?ve had at least three other offers from strangers I?ve met on the streets since then. But I?m not selling! This car is too good, and way too much fun to give up. If you?re looking for a Porsche 911, do yourself a favor and seriously look at the 996. You?re not going to find a better 911 for the price. It?s a lot of car for such a small amount of money (for now). You won?t regret it.
