Insurance on Wheels
This is the first Subaru I have owned. I previously owned nothing but Volkswagen Golf and Golf GTI models. I needed something easier to get in and out of while also giving me reassurance of being able to get to most places, especially those hard to reach trail-heads in the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. I was tired of having to gauge the road quality of an unknown trail-head and asking a fellow member to take their truck instead if the road was rough. The first thing I noticed when driving the Crosstrek was the difference between the turbo engines I had been driving vs the W engine in the Subaru. You press the gas and you go with a lurch, instead of pausing that second and a half for the engine to spool up. I also enjoyed the ride quality. The Crosstrek was designed to handle the road with the driver's comfort in mind, as opposed to the more performance-oriented suspension of my previous vehicles that made sure you felt every inch of the road. With that in mind, it took me a few months to get used to the "bounce and sway" of the Crosstrek style. It still takes turns nice and tight, but there is much more play of the suspension on the roadways. I bought the highest trim level with all the technology. The Subaru Eye Sight tech is very good. I am HUGE believer in cruise control, and used it like a beast on my previous cars even though it required adjustments in traffic. The adaptive cruise control is a dream come true on this vehicle. On highways, you can set it and forget it. While it won't come to a complete stop and start in traffic, it is pretty good regardless. Future versions I am sure will begin coming with full stop and start. the one amusing thing I had to figure out was to make the adjustment in the settings for how aggressive I wanted the acceleration. It was set to its highest level, so while my previous vehicles would slowly build speed to get to the set speed, the Crosstrek accelerated as if Han Solo had just told Chewie to punch it to light-speed with the engine roaring up, and the RPMs going to the max. Once the adjustment was made, it switched to a much more soothing climb to the expected speed. The blind-spot monitoring is decent, but the side mirrors on this vehicle are so good, I almost don't need it. The headlamps are top notch. I was a bit worried since my previous vehicles had very strong lamps, but the Crosstrek has the benefit of being higher up so the lamps can throw a much longer and wider distance without needing the use of the high beams as much. Although I still miss my cornering lamps for when I am in my dark development to light up where I am turning. Cornering lamps work very well with the adaptive lighting system on the vehicles and it is a shame Subaru didn't put them on their vehicles. Some of the disappointing things on this vehicle is the smallish cargo space when the seats are up. Subaru gave more room for passengers and sacrificed a bit of cargo room, but once the seats are dropped, the room opens up. I just wish there was a bit more with the seats up. I am also a little disappointed with the lack of mid-range engine power. If you ever get stuck behind a slow-moving truck on a highway and are trying to get into the left-hand lane to get around it, you will find it nearly impossible to safely get up to speed on modern-day highways before a vehicle is climbing your backside. I do miss that quick acceleration of my previous vehicles or my wife's all-electric Chevrolet Bolt. Getting up to speed from on-ramps is not quite as bad, but you do need a little more room to get it to 60-70 MPH depending on the highway. the engine is perfectly adequate around town or cruising. Gas mileage is a mixed bag. While you would think a 150 horsepower engine would get very good mileage, you also have to remember that the vehicle is heavier and is spinning all four wheels. I have been averaging about 35 MPG on most commutes. I can typically get about 500 miles before emptying the tank, although it usually chirps at you when you have less than 50 remaining. The other disappointing thing are the locks. The doors have to be locked by hand (meaning you push a lock or unlock button). Most modern vehicles automatically lock the doors when you put the vehicle in drive and start to move, and then unlock when you put the vehicle in park. They also typically allow you to program if you want all the doors to lock/unlock or just the driver's side. The Crosstrek does not have this.(Ran out of space)

Best car I've ever owned
This car meets all my needs and then some! It's extremely quiet, comfortable, and safe. All of the ammenities are easy to use from the android auto, to the entertainment features, to the safety features, and even the heated seats. I have never had a car that offered so much. I plan to keep this car for as long as it's driveable and I know that when the say finally comes to choose a new car it will be another Subaru.

Most fun car I have ever owned.
For the value, this car has met most of my needs. Passengers state the legroom both in the front and back seats is ample. The gas mileage is all that the dealership claimed it would be. Very satisfied with this vehicle and would recommend it highly.
