So far so good with the '09 Forester
My first drive in the '09 Forester was tackling a 45 degree potholed asphalt rain-soaked hill; it accelerated up the hill with only occasional rubbery kicks telling me it had transversed yet another pothole. The '09 XT Limited I ended up with handles unusually well for an SUV, staying flat in corners and with excellent feel. Ride is European firm but not uncomfortable, and road noise is moderate. Fuel economy's weak at 18 mpg, but Sport shift helps Auto wring more out of Turbo. There's plenty of space front and back (including toe space, something larger Outbacks utterly lack) - large moon roof lets in lots of air. XT's well-made leather seats are comfortable (10 way power for driver). Dash trim's econo class (some squeaks in the dash) but some nice finish and fabric touches, Auto A/C works well, instruments are clear and well lit at night. Audio's ok for casual listening but underpowered for loud rap/rock. Please disregard my reliability comment as car's brand new, but other than creaking trim it's had no issues so far. It's Definitely improved over the '08, and worth a look!
