Great car found at a good price

This car is a downsize from previous full size SUV. Still roomy and comfortable. Cargo area is smaller than what I'm used to but still accommodates all surf and SUP gear. Roof is easier to load with boards!

Excellent reliability and all weather capability.

Pros: Extremely well built. Had no squeaks or rattles after 95000 miles. Never any problems with reliability. Never got stuck, even in 2 feet of snow during a blizzard. Dealer service dept. was exceptional. Cons: Could be more refined with a lot of road /engine noise. Cheap plastics on the inside. Otherwise, excellent vehicle that was fun to drive (for an SUV).

very tough with a high reliability factor.

Good all around tough car. I expect to drive it at least another 100K miles. It's very reliable. The two Foresters that I previously owned were also tough and reliable.

Everything You Would Need in a Vehicle

I have always heard that Subarus were good cars but now that I own one, I can honestly say that what I heard was true and possibly understated. This car is wonderful. It does not have all the styling and tech that cars of its year and newer have but it makes up with character. If you want a car that you ride in the other options are great but if you want a car that you can drive (very different concept) then this car is wonderful. For a compact SUV, the handling is stellar, it handles like a sedan. The steering is responsive and accurate, and the cornering is a breeze with minimal braking. with only 4 cylinders and 170hp, it is not the fastest but it is plenty quick. Acceleration is great with no hesitation entering a highway, and passing on the left will give you no issues. The AWD definitely adds to the experience with no acceleration lag, snow obviously won't be a problem when it comes, but the car is great in the rain. The interior can be a little sparse for those that need all types of bells and whistles in the dash. If you are a true driver, liking the sound of a good engine, steering that has grip, and acceleration that bites then this car will give you what you need while giving you ample space for company or gear. If you have one enjoy it, if you don't, go get one so you can.

First time owning a subaru

I purchased this car exactly last year, and it had 45k on it. Through out the year I drove 5k miles. I transferred from 2000 VW passat to 2010 Subaru, from V6 to Boxer 4, from FWD to AWD. Let me start with the cons. The car is only offered with 2.5, 4 cylinder with turbo and without it. The turbo one produces 230 hp and the non one only 170. Both engines come with either 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual. I have the 4 speed and 170hp. (I went for the non-turbo because getting a used car with turbo is a risky business) In this car a 6 cylinder would be great because 170 hp is not enough. The fuel economy is good, 18 mpg city, 27 highway. Having 4 gears is not enough for like a highway cruise, because when I'm driving like 60-70, the rpms are at around 3500-4000. Fifth gear would drop it to 2200-2600, which it would boost up the mpg. They offer 3 trim levels, limited, premium and base. I have the premium, it has a lot stuff but it doesn't come with telescoping steering wheel. The pros: The awd system on it it's genius. Last winter didn't cause any problems for me. It's very roomy in the inside. A lot of storage compartments, 8 cup holders, aux input, 2 power outlets in the front and one in the trunk. The rear seats adjust. Overall it's a great car.

First car of my own.

I like It! I am a senior at Western Washington U and just to WA from CO. I do a lot of outdoor adventures...kayaking, camping, skiing. It's a great car and I'm sure it will meet my needs. I wish it got better gas mileage.

My First Car

I love this car, it gets me where I need to go when I need to. Really the only setback is the performance, but that's just because I grew up driving V6's.

Never have any problems

Vehicle 2.5XT Limited 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 4A) Review After being a Subaru owner for the last several year, I may try something different next time around. I still love the way this thing drives, but subaru must stop being slow with bringing current technologies to the customers. Absolutley terrible stereo with sound system, dedicated I pod , etc......This is the Limited afterall! also sunvisor vanity mirrors with out illumination and no light in glove box!!C'mon! The 4 speed tranny was not a huge concern for me but it again shows Subaru's unwillingness to be current. interior materials are not on par with most in the class. If Subaru wants to retain this up till now loyal customer, it must add some class to the fun!!!! Best Features Turbo engine, nice ride, looks, turning radius. Worst Features Stereo, interior material quality, transmission, auto lights, window express up/down feature on all windows. Did I mention the Stereo!!!!!!!!!!
