A Very Nice Sports Car
Naturally, I love my car especially for its handling. It won’t beat a corvette or a lot of other muscle cars for acceleration ; after all it’s only 200 hp. But it is a nice vehicle nonetheless and for my needs has plenty of power.

The best car I’ve owned.
It’s a nice sports car. Not many on the road, it handles well, a nice daily car. I’ve drove it for a while. I have added aftermarket light and exhaust.

Quick and fun!
Bought an 86 on a whim. Yes, a whim just after test driving one. Instantly fell in love. It’s a quick car with impeccable handling. I pushed it to 160+ mph at the track and had room for more. There’s a touch of hesitancy on burnouts and I haven’t figured out how to by pass that. I suspect it’s in the differential, but who knows. Track Mode is really fun. Best $30,000 I’ve ever spent.

Bad clutch
This car has a terrible problem with the clutch throw out bearing. Toyota service was not helpful and they knew it was a problem but after the 2nd visit they denied me a 3rd visit (They did not want to deal with a lemon law). Toyota warranty is terrible for this problem.

Very Reliable Car
Sarah W. from Jim Shorkey had made the purchase go very smoothly. The drive back home was better than expected. The car fits perfectly in regards to the handling, acceleration, braking, conveniency, safety, just the general feel about it & the aesthetic appeal of the car. All around perfect & exceeded my expectations. The staff were very pleasant to meet as well. Very professional, knowledgeable, friendly & they had a great sense to be able to help customers as appropriately needed. I'm very pleased, appreciative & grateful for the experience of purchasing my first car and would do it all again with the same people.

Reliable Sports Car Performance
This is an incredible car and its styling is nearly classic as people look it over and even ask about it. The car has a superior performance by virtue of its steering, suspension, driver's seat, and engine. This is not a muscle car good only on the flat. This is an appropriately powered car for twists, turns, and uneven road terrain. It is also a great highway cruiser. It's the full package expected in a true sports car.

Really fun, lightweight sports car
I’ve owned a couple of sports cars in the past (Honda S2000 and Nissan 350Z). Although this car is slower than both in a straight line, it is such a joy to drive that I don’t really miss my previous cars. The 86 won’t wow anyone when accelerating on an on-ramp, but it will thrill you when you come across a twisty, curvy road. That’s where these cars shine! The 86 is responsive to every steering input. I average a little under 28 mpg while commuting in my 86. I drive upwards of 100 miles daily, and though the little Toyota won’t be as comfortable as an SUV, it is surprisingly comfortable for a sports car. The car’s exterior is beautiful to me. Living in Southern California, where sports coupes seem to be everywhere, the 86 doesn’t draw too much attention, especially when you’re driving among Ferrari’s and Porsche’s, but I still receive plenty of compliments from strangers. The interior doesn’t offer much beyond a touchscreen display for your music. I don’t need much anyway. I prefer my sports car be as light as possible without giving up essentials, like air conditioning. The rear seats are pretty useless for most people. Mine are used regularly since I have an elementary school aged kid, but I know they will become useless for me, too, once she grows a bit taller. With that said, it’s still nice to have the rear seats just for extra storage. Speaking of storage, the trunk is spacious for a tiny car. I’ve filled the trunk with a large amount of groceries without issue. And though I haven’t tested it myself, plenty of people say they’ve fit a set of 4 tires in their 86 with the rear seats down. Overall, the car is perfect for people who want a reliable daily commuter that isn’t an economy car. You will achieve relatively decent fuel efficiency while still enjoying wringing the car’s engine out without risking prison time. I’d recommend this car to everyone, but I also want people to not buy them as much so it can be a rarer sight on the road. I see the FR-S/BRZ/86’s everywhere in California, and that’s for good reason. They’re great cars!
