Never Dies

Hi, I bought 1999 Camry LE 4cyl used when it has 106k miles in august 2010 and now it has got 200k on it. I have been driving the car mostly on freeways sometimes I used to drive continously for 15hrs long trips with 1 or 2 breaks just for gas and food. I never hired a car for my long trips. I love to travel in my car and it never let me down. Never invested anything on the car other than general maintainance tyres and brakes and once changed the timing belts and water pump when it has 126k miles. Now its 200k miles and still running great, smooth and solid like a new car. I am going to use this car until it dies. I can say that this is the most reliable car that I have ever seen.

310k + and still a great car

LE 3.0litre v6, auto, abs 4 wheel disc, woodland green, alloy wheels, brown interior, 6 speaker cd/radio/cassette, power mirror/door/window/driver seat. Japan-made I was in elementary school when my family purchased this car brand new. I would fall asleep in it on those long car trips because of the quiet comfortable interior. I learned to drive in the Camry as a teenager, and several years ago at 260k miles my father handed me the keys when it was time to give up my worn out Corolla. Now my Camry has almost 310k miles and shows no sign of quitting. All of my friends cannot believe the odometer, but I explain that it has never gone more than a week without being driven by someone in my family and always take a check engine light seriously (not that it has often). I plan to be driving it after I graduate college in about a year and even years after that when I move into a home of my own. I baby it by keeping a coat of wax on and never going 100 miles over the recommended service. Only major issue I can think of was when the ECU needed to be replaced at 100k miles. But still, this has been the least expensive car to own overall in the family. It doesn't want me to spend time at the shop, it wants to be out on the open road! I must add there is nothing exciting about driving a 99 Camry. Acceleration and stopping is great but it is far from a sports car. But I love it for its dependability and couldn't imagine giving it up. I would like it to be my weekend car when I can afford a new one in a couple years.

99 Camry

I never thought this Camry would hold up to my abuse, 170,000k and still going strong. I keep looking around for something to replace this Camry, but it just won't quite. Just regular maintinance.

Almost 300K miles and still going

I own the dark green Camry LE v6 version. I bought this car brand new in 1999. Right now it sits at 296000 miles. It still has the original drive train. I love love this car! Even though I bought another car, I can't bear to get rid of this one so it now sits as a second car. Has NEVER left me stranded. Still on the original alternator. I just changed out the starter at 293000! It does have its fault. The gas cap clip finally went at 285000 miles but it was a $5 fix. My engine is now leaking oil but I use a heavier grade and put Lucas in there and the problem is solved. But if that is all that's wrong after almost 300K miles, I cannot complain. A lot of people complain about the check engine light being on because of the o2 sensors. I fixed that problem by revving my car real hard and now that check engine light never comes on! It's probably the soot in the muffler. I am a loyal Toyota driver for life. They need to go back to making cars like they did in 1999!

This is my 3rd. Toyota since 1984.

I've purchased 3 new Toyota's (Tercel; Camry; Camry) Tercel sold for almost what I paid for it; knocking on wood, I never had a major problem with any of them. Recently, I started looking at a new Toyota then I decided to have my 1999 detailed.....it looked so good (brand new) I decided to keep it awhile longer. Looks good and drives smoothly. Only problem, it's so old, the seal around the windshield has dry-rotted and I need to have it "re-sealed". Good Car and I love it, just don't really want to sell her!

Best car I've ever driven

We've had quite a few cars over the years. We bought our '99 Camry new in July of '99. We have never, NEVER had any problem with it. We've done nothing but routine maintenance on it. The poor thing has a target on it, and has been in 13 accidents, but not one of them were caused by any defect in the vehicle. Also, the vehicle has done an amazing job holding up and doing what it was designed to do in each and every accident. My only gripe is initial exceleration... but I do have a lead foot, so there is a lot to be desired from me :) The vehicle is SUPER dependable.

Never breaks down

1999 dark green camries had a good year. There are several of them on my street (I live in Queens). I never have any problem except routine maintenance and I bought the car used five years ago.

1999 Toyota Camry V6 XLE: 210k and counting

I bought this car with 12k on it and have since put on almost 200k more. Never had a major problem, other than a locked brake caliper 7 years ago. Car still runs great. Itt still has plenty of power. I actually prefer it to my wife's Lexus RS 300!
