One of the best car
I think Toyota Camry one of the best car. I purchased it used with salvage title 92K miles on it. Never had any problems with it now it has 138K miles drives as good as new. This quiet big car has such a good gas mileage. I took it on trip thru California Oregon and Washington States, very convenient drive day and night. Changed only cooling system expiation tank and radiator. Easy access so anybody can do it himself because of a lot of room under the hood. Very reliable car!!!

Great Car!
We have owned our 99 Camry for 10 years. Only changed battery, tires, oil. At 259,000 miles transmission went out. Am looking for another. Best car we have ever owned.

I got a peach instead of a lemon!
I love my 99 Camry. I bought mine used over six years ago and it has been great. With 135K miles on it, I've only had to do general maintenance (oil, tires, batteries) to keep it going.) I've had some issues with the electrical system burning out my interior bulbs and turn signal bulbs. But I remind myself that they can live forever. Maintenance is a little pricy. I had two automatic windows forced off track (by someone trying to break in) and cost me about $100 per window to fix and the door panels have never been the same since they took them a part. I only wish it had more room in the cabin. The trunk space is nice but not meant to hold everything that you need for a family camping trip. I've driven it in snow, ice, rain, non-stop accross two states (without filling up the gas tank), on curvy mountain roads and thru farm fields with no major complaints yet!

pros- look good, drive great and is fast for a v4 i think. also the car in black looks great. cons-the car makes an odd sound when on bumpy roads like the chocks are moving or something, paint gets scratched easily. horrible on gas. but not too bad over all love the camry great for rocky driver.

Over-rated, Expensive to repair
I bought a 99 Camry as I did not have enough money to buy a brand new. It had 57K on the clock with everything seemingly in good shape.Four months later, I started to get knocking noises from the front end and a specialist(@ M*nr*)said struts were the culprits. Noise did not go away though. After taking it to another independant mechanic(who found nothing wrong with the suspension) I googled the problem and found out that Toyota used a low quality mount bushings on Camrys & Lexus(es) between 97-99 that should be replaced along the struts when the time comes. The dealer wants appr.1500$ to cure the problem and the independants say they don't guarantee it will do it for the noise. My tip? Don't get too excited with seemingly immaculate low mileage Camrys as they are no better than any other car in terms of build quality or maintenance costs. Do your homework and get a car with a dealer warranty if you want to avoid paying outrageous repair costs. Otherwise,it is not worth it unless you were a mechanic!

Beware Camry Hype
Bought new 1999 Camry and have a several major problem areas. Front suspension: Loud squeaking w/in 20K miles - both STRUTS needed replacing. Auto transmission: Slipping bwtn 1 and 2 gear under 70K miles - needed replacement. Paint: Clear coat failed w/ resulting paint damage w/in 6 years. Interior wood trim: Delaminated w/in 6 years. Interior arm rest: Top cushion detached from underlying structure. I have talked to other Camry owners and most have had some of these problem, but still insist this is their best car - GO FIGURE!

where would i be without my camry
i have owned my '99 camry for 9 years and i havent had a single problem with it yet! thi scar is so quiet i forget the car is even on. i live out in the country on dirt roads and the comfort is amazing. its pretty good in the snow as well. sometimes in the snow i'll leave my expedition home and take the camry. with over 187,000 miles on it i have no intention of getting a new one. its the best car i think i have ever owned im hopeing to have it for at least 4 to 5 more years.
