My third Toyota

Great legroom for six footers. Spacious trunk space. Upholstery material adds luxury. Glove compartment design allows for more legroom. Legs can be fully stretched. Tinted windows create a light greenish shade. There is much going on with multiple UBS ports and places to store small items. I have owned it for three days and look forward to a long and rewarding experience. My previous car, Highlander, served me for many years and though I miss it, I believe I have found an excellent replacement. It is equipped with more bells and whistles than I am accustomed to but I will fall in step with the luxuries provided. The interior is delightful, the handling is friendly. Lots of comfort. I will be studying it for a while.

It's early, only 350 miles but I am madly in love

When looking for a new car I was actually looking at Mercedes C-class. We just bought a 2020 Mercedes GLB250 for the wife, and I was really wanting a Mercedes for myself. The GLB we bought had driver assist package with all the semi-autonomous driving things that are just amazing. After doing some research about other cars that have technology like that, I found that Toyota is making all their cars with similar technology standard. Lane assist, self braking needed, etc. We use to own a 2014 Toyota Camry XLE which I love love loved, and we ended up going to a Mazda 3 because it was sporty and cool. So here I was adding the Camry back into my research. I just couldn't justify spending the same if not more for a slightly used few year old C-class when I could get into a 2021 Camry, and I bought an SE. Let's start with the Pros. 1. It's sexy as xxxx. I have had cars over the years that I turn around and look at when I am walking away and this is one of them. The SE trim is just the right amount of sexy and sporty and still being super practical. 2. Plenty of room in front and rear. I have heard people aren't super into the trunk space, but it seems fine for me, but I haven't had the need to load it up yet, and probably never will. 3. It has some nice pick up and go 4. All the safety features are great. 5. Driving it just makes me feel good. I actually make excuses to go out and go for rides (and I kinda like this more than the Mercedes) Cons- 1. So in regards to the safety feature Lane assist. It is great, but it's not as good as the Mercedes. It's rather stiff almost herky-jerky if you will, and can't handle the same type of turns as the Mercedes. I crossed into the other lane a lot while going around turns testing out the feature on country roads, though it works well on the highway. Also if you were using the cruise control w/ lane assist in the Mercedes and kept your hands off the wheel for a certain amount of time the car will go into emergency mode and shut down assuming the driver had an emergency or feel asleep. However, the Toyota will disable the lane assist feature and would ultimately go off the road if the driver did indeed fall asleep or had a medical emergency. I am guessing that Toyota wants the driver to assume a more active role as the driver, and yes I know this isn't a Mercedes, but going in I thought it would act the same. 2. I had joked that the radio looks suitable for a daisy wheel printer. Though, once I changed it from the default color scheme it looked a lot better. That being said, it does the job. A pro to the radio is that it connects to Alexa which is pretty great. I haven't had any issues w/ the Alexa-Toyota app, though I have read others have. Those two cons cons probably make the car a 9.85 out of 10. I love this car and can't wait to take it out again. Toyota for the win (as usual)

Techie’s Car

Most complex car I’ve ever owned. An encyclopedia of manuals to read. Countless electronic choices across the dashboard. So complex I felt compelled to add extended warranty even if it is a Toyota. Disappointed that the XLE doesn’t come with memory seats and hood shocks to keep it open; instead it has a rod to hold it up, and the hood release in front is difficult to pull. I don’t feel the need for lane correction, adaptive cruise control, pushbutton starter, and other options I have yet to discover. The heads-up windshield display can’t be seen if you wear polarized glasses. Many of the myriad displays on the instrument panel are too small to easily read while driving. I don’t like the gaudy big wheels and expensive tires. It doesn’t come standard with a trunk net. But it is quiet and holds the road well. But I don’t judge a car’s reliability after just a few weeks of ownership.

Excellent gas mileage

It has side air curtains and knee bags. It is both apple and android compatible. On my drive from Naples to Ft. Myers I averaged 40mph. Lumbar support is a nice bonus.

Camry Has Arrived

The Camry at last has the near perfect combination of design, options and function with AWD, Heated Steering Wheel WITHOUT need to purchase a Sunroof and Navigation, top notch cloth seats, and outstanding safety features. It is as sleek and low as a tall person can handle for ingress and egress, but manageable. I leased the LE AWD with Cold Weather and Convenience Packages. The ergonomics, balance of electronics and real buttons, are excellent. I wish the same car with AWD was available in a Hybrid.
