Corolla

For the record, this car is pretty basic. However, it is a GREAT value, for a LE (mine) you great sporty exterior design, good (not great) seats, and a lot more performance than you would expect (though it still isn't that great) This makes a great first car, or for anyone looking for a compact car with great value.

Solid

I wanted to try a car that was highly rated by consumer reports and got great gas mileage. So far this car hits it on all. I haven't got less than 33 mpg in town. Pure highway I am sure is over 40. Solid car, comfortable, good response. We'll see on reliablility but have no regrets on purchase.

Terrible in snow

We have owned a Sienna, Highlander, Avalon, and now just bought a 2009 Corolla LE. The gas mileage is great at almost 30 miles a gallon in the city and low 30's combined with highway. However this is the first winter we drove it in snow and with the roads terrible today I ended up skidding all over the road and in the ditch getting some damage to the car. This has NEVER happened in any other car. The road handling is terrible in snow. I am seriously thinking of trading it in for a different brand of car. Can't recommend it if you live in snow.

Corolla Drive Train

I bought my Corolla new. Shortly after, I noticed that when upon acclerating to freeway speeds, the car jumps into the next gear with a horrible "bam." It will not go over 95 (at the Salt Flats) without constantly violently changing gears. The dealership got it to do the same thing. The say that it is merely a speed "limiter." I have a tough time believing that. Around town, it drives fine.

Most Reliable car

Toyota Corolla is the best car when it comes to reliability / value for money. I have had three corollas till date and all of them were great. My comments are not based on one test drive but based on my relationship with the car for 4 years and 50K miles.

Great Car

Purchased 2009 Corolla as a replacement car for a Ciivc that was totalled in an accident. The Corolla has a very nice ride and is roomy for me. I am 5ft 10 in tall and have no problem with head room. The gas mileage is excellent and the handling is very good. Not sporty like the Civic I had but much smoother ride. Fit and finish is excellent even with the amount of plastic used. There has not been much I have had to do to the car except change oil and keep the tires inflated.

Good Value

I have had to get used to the car since I'm going from a 5 speed to an automatic, but it's nice, gas efficient, I keep forgetting the last time I bought gas, never forgot in the old car and make sure you hunt long and hard because you will find a good deal. I didn't pay no 15 or 20 thousand and got a reliable, good car. But still wish I could afford a sports car, but this will do for now.
