Not the car anti-hero that everyone thinks it is
I can say as a performance car lover that I've driven a Prius, and I sort of liked it. As a matter of fact, I've sort of liked it for a literal decade with my wife being the main driver; and despite the strong imagery associated with the car which gained sneers, thumbs ups, and the souped up diesel truck driver slamming the accelerator past me to gas out the illustrious "Prius driver", it's been a good, even great, daily driver for us. This car is quirky both in how it drives and also how you're supposed to drive it. For example, the shifting column is purely electric with a fairly traditional column, but without the parking gear; which is a separate button. Perhaps the reason for this is to prevent the driver from accidentally hitting the lever into park since the shifter is only a mere hands-length from the steering wheel. This is where, while I was going to give interior design 4 stars, I had to knock of a star because the shifting column is, well, electric. This means that if your 12V accessory battery dies out and you happen to be in park, good luck moving the car since you won't be able to disengage park until you can receive a jump or a tow truck comes to lift the car off the front drive wheels. The instrument cluster is also purely electronic with a digital speedometer, gear indicator, and a video game-like gas gauge. The seats, while not exactly bolstery like bucket seats, are also quite comfortable in the front and rear even after 70k miles. The rest of the interior is fairly standard for an economy car, although if I had bought this car new, I would have expected a bit higher interior quality given the price tag. The car's exterior styling doesn't carry the typical Toyota features from other cars of its time, and has its own brand of understated styling. Of course, having its own brand of style, it doesn't take long for other drivers to see the symbolism and assume the driver as the smug stereotype from South Park. For performance, while this car obviously isn't going to win any drag races, it's not bad for what the Prius is intended to be. As far as acceleration, it will at least get you on the highway safely and the electric motor, when charged, can give you a good boost of torque at any rpm. Without the electric motor assisting however, this car can become a dog, but not to the extent that some people might assume. The CVT honestly isn't that bad either when it comes to response which surprised me considering that this car is designed around fuel economy. Acceleration aside, the deceleration is good, and to compensate for the hybrid system, the brakes tend to bite early and quickly. Oh yeah, steering feel. I'm still searching for it. All jokes aside however, this is without a doubt the most reliable car we've ever driven. Over the 70k miles we've driven it, besides for an inverter water pump recall and a muffler (due to our wonderful salt-ridden winters), we've only ever had to do the car's basic maintenance. Overall, this car has honestly been good to us despite the quirky, and questionable, design choices. To the other car guys and gals out there, if you're looking for a reliable daily, a Prius might be worth a look. Just be ready for the occasional "look" from the other hybrid/electric drivers and anyone with a straight pipe exhaust.

By far the best car I've owned
I've owned many vehicles throughout the years, both foreign and domestic. My cute little Prius is a head and shoulders above all others in every respect. Never mechanical issue in 11 years

Great Economy Car!!!
I am very pleased with the 2008 Toyota Prius. It’s nice to see that about $12 is all the car needs for a full tank of gas.

one of the best cars for the city and hwy travel.
Ofcourse great gas mileage. Not bad style either. It's a small car that feels solid as a rock. Although there are somethings I like in an earlier model like backup cam. And some of the controls on the steering wheel. The 2011 is a good blend of style and handling.

Reliable and cost efficient car I've owned
The car is great, reasonable legroom for sitting 4 people, when sitting 5 people, the backseat is a bit tight given the car is narrower. It is a good vehicle to support daily household work, picking up kids to and from school and dropping them off to soccer practice. This is such and efficient car when drive in town stop and go traffic. Once you drive a hybrid vehicle, is hard to go back to a traditional ICE vehicle
