Prius platform is outstanding

This is our third Prius - a 2007 with 153k, a 2008 with 228k and our newest(?) 2011 with 35k. These are reliable, well-engineered rides that have served us well. The kids have the 2 older ones at college - they enjoy the benefits of high mpg, low maintenance, maneuverability and hatchback roominess for all of their moves. I've always bought used, and have no regrets. Prius owners treat their cars well. Mine is a daily commuter, averaging high 48s, and 53 on highway trips. They may not be the most stylish, ultra-comfortable vehicles, but those aren't my priorities. Rarely need service - brakes and exhaust last forever. The engines and complex drive train are bulletproof. The '11 has "POWER" mode, and actually makes me smile when I leave stop lights. Instantaneous torque. Never have I felt they were under-powered. If you can keep up with me you're burning a lot more fuel to do it. I've never been a fan of gas stations and big oil. This is one answer. Or 3, in our case.

Great car

The car exceeded all my expectations. Great for everyday use and long distance drives. Saves money on gas and very convenient to drive in a big city due to the compact size

2011 Toyota Prius IV

I absolutely love this car. It is dependable, fun to drive, and roomy for a being a car. We currently use it with two children in car seats and they do great in it.

I like the fuel economy

I like the keyless ignition, and its good fuel economy. It serves me a small utility vehicle. Since it is a hatchback, I can fold down the rear seat backrests and carry large bulky objects such as a bicycle, skis, or various other items.

Good value with low maintenance

I owned this car for the last 7 years and it consistently performed at 45-52 mpg. Oddly, I got better mileage on long trips than short trips around town as was recommended by the sticker when I bought it. Other than a new battery at 5 years and new tires at 48,000 miles, this vehicle has required nothing beyond routine maintenance.

Great on fuel economy, and drives smoothly

Have had this car for about the month now. The drive is very comfortable and the gas mileage is good. I drive about 120 miles and day and I have enjoyed how smooth the drive is.
