2012 Toyota Sienna consumer reviews

Have the van for a year. It needs oil changes every 2,000 miles. Floor matts are bad. Show wear and tear of car that is ten years old not one. Brakes are mushey, dealer says they are fine? Fuel lines are made of plastic. Those fuel lines get eaten by chipmunks and mice. Not covered under "Toyota's Warrenty". Toyota offers longer warrenty program, then those fuel lines are covered. Read the warrenty book before you buy the van, it is not geard towards the consumer, it is to protect the company. Service department, well they are all about the same as other car repair shops. Nice looking, which means yes they are charging the consumer a lot of money for car repairs. Do not think Toyota is any different then any other car maker. They are all in the business to make money.

We looked at minivans for awhile before we decided on the sienna. We bought a new SE model, and i have to admit i do like it. The seats could be a little more comfortable, other than that a great vehicle. I do wish there were more options for a dark interior, with three kids it was a must. We traded in a chevy uplander, no comparison period!!! Toyota has definitely made a new fan.

I had been looking at getting a car for over a year. I must have driven every three row crossover and minivan out there. Finally, we decided that a minivan would meet our needs as a family more so than a crossover. So it came down to the Sienna vs the Odyssey. We liked both minivans and each had its pros and cons. We decided on the Sienna simply because of the various reviews that I had read about buyers complaining about brake issues and transmission problems with the Odyssey. But we would have gone with the Odyssey had we not received the deal we wanted. We only have about 700 miles on our Sienna so far so I can't speak of reliability at the moment. We bought the Sienna XLE FWD with the Premium Package. Was expensive considering I didn't get the Limited. I got about $4500 off MSRP so I was happy. We bought the Sienna because I read the engine was great, the reliability was great, and the resale value was great as well. The seats are very comfortable and spacious and we fit 7 people in the car where every person actually had enough leg space. The long sliding second row is an amazing feature to have. People sitting in the third row had more than enough leg room. The fit and finish is not that great and the materials used inside are cheap and don't feel solid. Coming from an Infiniti, I was worried about that but it hasn't been a problem yet. Again, the engine etc (the things that really matter) are supossed to be good and last. I find that the upgraded JBL stereo sounds really great. That was a surprise! Also the bluetooth works flawlessly and people can hear me very well when I am using it. The voice command works ok but it is so slow that I find myself not using it. The split screen DVD player also looks, sounds, and works well. Have all the bells and whistles I need without having to spend an extra $6000. Have power liftgate, power sliding doors, USB and AUX ports and bluetooth. Memory seats should have come with the premium package but do not. The ride is very comfortable and smooth for all passengers. Driving it is ok but not exciting which I expected. The power is good and I don't feel like I need more. Wish the carpeted floor mats looked nicer and was nicer quality but that goes for most of the inside materials except for the seats. Living in a warm climate, a requirement was a good working A/C. The Sienna has GREAT air-conditioning! The Chrysler and Nissan didn't feel as good. Overall I find that I am very pleased with our decision to buy the Sienna. A minivan is not the most exciting car to buy but to own one is near luxury in comfort and space. I do recommend especially to people who have kids still in car seats like we do.

We purchased a new, 2012 Toyota Sienna Limited AWD. It replaced a 2007 version of the same car. Prior to this we have owned two AWD Chrysler vans. We have 4 kids: 2 teenagers and 2 in middle school. All play various sports year round. We live in NH and like to ski as much as possible. The car spends several hours every day running the kids to practice and games. The AWD works terrific. The car is as competent as any Jeep on the road and in parking lots. Interior is great. Our kids are big ? 2 over 6?2? but there is plenty of room for them and our stuff. We also looked at the large SUV?s but felt this van had more useable and comfortable interior space. The car has have NAV and DVD. Expensive but very useful on trips and locating hard to find fields. Reliability is amazing. Much much better than the Chrysler. We had over 125K hard miles on the 2007 with zero issues. We have now had the 2012 for 2 months. It has pros and cons vs the 2007. Pros: Interior feels bigger and more refined. Push button start takes a little getting used to but once we did we like it. We thought the middle sun roof would be useless but we are also enjoying this with it opened and closed. DVD, NAV, stereo are expensive and complicated, but work well and integrate well with iphone(s)/pads/pods. Cons: Feels much bigger dimension-wise on the outside. Less line of sight over the hood and on the sides. Makes it much harder to park and pull into the garage. Like the 2007, you are locked out of most of the functionality of the NAV and even the music/cellphone operation when the car is moving -- which is extremely frustrating. I get the safety thing for the driver, but don't know why the functions can't be made available when there is a passenger in the car. The car can sense when people sit in the front passenger seat - why not allow them to safely operate the NAV system? It does have voice control, but this is very slow and frustrating. Overall a very good car. Expensive but we feel the AWD is critical in our area of the country and the other features are worth the money given the amount of time we all spend in the car. Final comment... get multiple quotes. The "get a quote" functioned worked great. I don't like to haggle, but there was over a $4K difference in the various bids we recieved from the Toyato dealers. In the end the one closest to us matched the best price and we saved.

Just bought a new XLE AWD. I've only had it 3 weeks, so I can't give a reliability check, but I can say that my previous vehicle, an 04 Sienna CE, performed flawlessly for the 8 years I owned it. It's the reason I stayed with the Toyota Sienna. Reliability: second to none. This vehicle, the XLE, has considerably more bells and whistles than the CE. I like the heated seats and side mirrors, the sliding second row seats with the foot rests. I didn't get the Navigation package as I think it is not a good value at $2,300. Same for the rear seat entertainment package. $6,300 for that? Seriously? The vehicle came equiped with run-flat tires. Not crazy about those as they have a very hard feel to them. Of course, it could be due to a stiffer suspension as part of the AWD package. Before taxes, shipping and fees, I paid $32,700... so any dealer trying to charge you more than that is padding their profit. I am not including incentives or anything in this number. Just a bottom line price. I compared the Honda EX-L, and found that it was a couple thousand more, for essentially the same vehicle. Again, I don't think the greater price is warranted. And the dealer tried to hose me around with the trade-in value of my used car... Started with a low ball offer, then came up; just a bad way of doing business. I like the space that a van provides. However, removing the second row seats leaves a raised track which impedes laying a sheet of 4X8 flat. That can be fixed by laying a couple of 8 foot 2x2s on the bottom before you put in the 8X4 plywood or drywall. All in all, I am very pleased. But anyone not pleased with their new vehicle after only 3 weeks hasn't done their homework well.

I truly love this van! It is affordable, comfortable and is very reliable. The features on the vehicle are great and my family loves it! The best van I have driven thus far. In my opinion, Way Better Features and Warranties than the Odessey. It has truly surpassed my expectations.

2012 sienna - first time minivan user- liked it a lot, nice size, need little bit better quality components used interior.

I go 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE with base option. Great price. 32,700 drive out price with tax already. all leather with power lift gate. wood trim. better alloy wheels. very roomy inside.

We just leased our Sienna and we are already planning on buying it at lease end. Prior to leasing the Sienna, we drove a Town and Country, Grand Caravan, and Sienna on the same day. We had previously owned a 2010 VW Routan as well. Also, we have borrowed my parents' 2010 Town and Country on occasion. We didn't drive far in the Sienna and our decision was made. The Sienna LE with the V6 had the smoothest ride and most power of the three Mini-vans. The exterior styling is the sleekest of the three and the interior is the most comfortable. We also got a great deal during the Toyotathon. The Prius is probably still our favorite, but with child number 3 on the way, the Sienna will be the weekend-family-traveller with the Prius and Civic our weekday commuters.

This is an excellent mini-van in every way. It drives and rides like a dream. I love the transmission because you can shift and select the gears with ease. We have grandchildren and it is so much easier to put them in and out now with the wide sliding doors.
