Best truck I've ever owned
The Toyota Tacoma is one of the best trucks I have ever owned. I find myself looking up my balcony at it going how much I love it. You would not be disappointed in any which way shape or form about owning a Toyota Tacoma.

I love this truck more than I love most people
First, it's a Toyota, so you can't go wrong; it's reliable, tough, and extraordinarily well-designed and well-made. Second, I love how it looks -- it's gorgeous. Third, it gets great mileage, it's fun to drive, it's responsive and peppy, and it's super-comfortable, too. Fourth, it's my favourite thing in the whole world.

Clunky transmission, great styling, firm seats
After driving the TRD Sport for about two years now, I have concluded that there is lots of room for improvement. Starting out with the best parts of the Taco, it is one of the coolest looking trucks ever made with its aggressive styling, and it is reliable. It hasn’t broken down on me ever (other than a flat tire) and everything still feels solidly built. Its also got great resale value. It’s got a high ride height, making it good for off roading. Unfortunately, there are significant downsides which significantly damper the experience. The worst being the automatic 6 speed transmission. It shifts slowly, jolts the vehicle backward a little bit, and has a bad habit of up shifting too early, taking out most of the fun factor when accelerating. It’s got a delay in the gas pedal from the time I put my foot down to the time it actually starts to move forward. I took the Tacoma to the Toyota dealer to update the transmission, it helped but still feels bad. There is a ECT PWR button which makes it more fun (it’s like a sport mode), but when enabled, makes the gas pedal overly sensitive; it’s hard to just “cruise” without moving faster. however it does have good handling for a pickup, with steering that is nice and precise and corners good enough in the TRD sport trim. Also, its seats, while comfortable and supportive on short drives, have no height adjustment, and are very stiff which can cause your body to ache if sitting on them too long. In addition, the infotainment/sound system could be designed better. It’s overly eager to play my music when connected to Bluetooth or usb, playing it whenever I turn it on, change the track, connect a device or even adjusting the volume. Adding insult to injury, there is only one way to pause your music: by tapping a small icon on the screen- no physical button. My phone calls sometimes stop working after talking on the phone for a few minutes. Also the sound is very bassy, and the sub drowns out the sound if the bass is not turned down or treble turned up, other than that it sounds good enough, and works well and is easy to use. In other notes, There could be more passenger room even in the double cab, especially if you are carrying tall passengers. The automatic high beams, while could be switched to manual mode, do not automatically adjust well, turning off at the wrong times. The ride quality is smooth over well paved roads but very bumpy when riding over cracks and such. It is hard to park, but it’s to be expected of a truck. Overall, it’s an ok truck, but don’t let its looks deceive you- this is not a sports truck. But if you don’t care about driving dynamics on road, and don’t need too many creature comforts, it’s a solid truck and a fantastic off roader.

Dangerously underpowered
It is a lease so I had no choice. Avoid the 4 cylinder at all costs. Dangerous when merging. I cannot imagine trying to pull a boat with this thing and have no idea why they would put a 4 cylinder in an extra cab pre - runner body. It is not like you are saving on gas because the gas mileage is poor. Go for the 6 cylinder. The 4 cylinder should only be in the lower based standard tacoma with just two seats.

Nice Truck Toyota Tacoma
2018 quad cab 4x4 .I owned the truck for a little 2 years. All-in-all a good truck. Good power and liked the interior. Didn't like the cruise control it would make the truck downshift 2 gears when going down a small grade trying to maintain the cruise speed. Very annoying !!. Also would "sag" in the rear when i loaded my 4 wheeler in it and it's a small 350.

2 years old and rust is an issue
Rust is forming on body panels in just 2 years. I thought that Toyota fixed this problem but evidently not at all. To boot yesterday I received a recall on the fuel pump. Dealer says no parts available. I said then why send me a recall letter?? He had no answer.. I guess neither does Toyota!! I’m 2 years in.. The truck is not comfy like a Ford or Chevy. It’s good on gas but the new U.S. pickups are good too as they switch from 8cyl to 6cyl. I’ll hold on 1 more year and see what develops on the Tacoma as far as issues go. Any more rust and recalls and I’m going back to Ford!!
