Bought a used 2019.

Bought a used 2019. 40 days after purchase truck gets knock in engine. Looking at 11k engine replacement as of now or 19k rebuild. Seems to be a big issue with 2GKRS engine (code could be a little off). Have seen multiple trucks with this engine having cylinder Fail at what toyota owners call low miles. Everything from 35k mile. Mine has 111k and I'm pretty sure poor maintenance might have been a partial issue but seem that people who are taking good care of maintenance are having same issue. I would speculate issues when machining the blocks and heads were happening and Toyota doesn't wanna own up to it. So sad for people who roll off dealership lot and ad hit with these repairs. Should just bought a clunker, at least I would be 40k in debt. Thanks for nothing toyota

Bad Engineering leads to Bad trucks.

Well this is a review on a 2021 but all the reviews on the 2019 are the same. The never ending shifting of a over geared transition, NO torque to speak of, Overly loud in the cab, carrier bearing not stiff enough so vibration when under a load or going up hill. Toyota Engineers: Put the 5speed transmission back in, add a twin turbo, sound proof the cab better and put is a one peace driveline or stiffer carrier bearing. This truck should not need Diff gears higher than 4.10s just to be able to daily drive. You guy need to go back to collage and learn more about power to weight ratio and toque converters. The Ford EcoBost gets more power, better MPG and the dammed thing is bigger and weighs more than the Tacoma. My grammar may suck but I can design and build a better truck than the current Tacoma team. Listen to the customer, we all don't live in California and don't care about what they want, the real Tacoma owners that need this truck to be the best need you to fix this xxx. Get some Engineers that actually drive the hills, go off road and put some real drive time in. You can make this cruise 80 and get 25mpg while providing power and toque.

Disappointing Performance

When I bought my 2020 Tacoma V6 (3.5L) 4x4 in December 2019 I quickly noticed the truck lacks low end torque. The truck struggles accelerating uphill, especially up steep mountain roads and often downshifts into 4th gear, or even down to 3rd gear. I’ve installed 4:88 gears and Tuned the the vehicle which helped considerably, yet I’m constantly wanting more power than the engine can provide. Overall I’m a bit disappointed with the performance from the engine, constant up shifting and down shifting from the transmission, and the road noise inside the cabin of the truck. Toyota definitely missed the mark on this one!

Excellent truck with excellent gas mileage

I fit real well in this truck . I like the gas mileage and it is awesome. The color fits me and l like 4 wheel drive. The truck works good in the snow and handles extremely well.

Very stylish design, perfect size

Rims too small should be at least 18” Engine acceleration weak, need more power Compared to the other trucks in its class the engine does not seem as powerful

Should Have Bought 4x4 with 6 foot bed

This truck gets crappy gas mileage. Supposed to get 16 mpg city 24 mpg hwy but really only gets about 12-14 mpg in city and 18 to 20 mpg on hwy with crappy ethanol gas. When I was using no ethanol gas in great state of FL I was getting 16 to 18 mpg in city and 22 to 24 mpg on hwy. But I am now in CA so I am getting crappy mpg. I will be moving back to FL in a year.

xxxx poor

Well let's see, first the fam transmission shifts all the time ,cant touch the pedal without it shifting,,an they changed the front sensor in the grill, an did the fuel pump an my fuel mileage went from 17-18 mph,to 11-13mpg .an they said it was my fault,,so the xxxx with this truck never again. Once the xxxx truck is paid for going back to dodge,,
