Great mid-size truck with rock solid reliability.
Overall I really light the truck, the power is good and I avg over 20mpg on highways and country roads. People complain about it upshifting too soon and then having to downshift. This can be overcome by taking it out of ECT. The default is for better fuel economy, so that's why it tends to want to be in a higher gear. It's the only truck in its class with a fold-flat rear seat which is important to me. It also has a tough composite bed that you can actually haul stuff in. It's a real truck with real off-road capability. That means it doesn't drive like a family sedan on the road. I have almost 30K on it and it's great on trails and in the snow. I haven't had any issues and with regular maintenance, I think this truck will last a long time and many miles.

Extremely overrated!
Disappointed, truck has more rattles than my 03 Sierra had with 270,000 miles! A lot of visible defects in plastics on interior parts! Rear bumper and front fascia very cheap! The 2.7l 4 cylinder has enough power but the 6 speed trans doesn’t seem to pair up good with engine! “A lot of unusual shifting” up and down?? Tried to clean gauge cluster with winded and a clean microfiber cloth and it left scratches all over the cheap plastic! Bottom line is these trucks are very overpriced and Toyota has done a great job with marketing them for society to think they are superior over the competition! This will be my 1st and last Toyota!

Not reliable not like the old ones
At 800 miles started shuddering when shifting from 4th. 5th. 6th. Surges with foot on the brake. If you don't turn the adaptive cruise off it will stop with someone not to you. Tech says all normal. Not very Happy

It’s a Toyota!
First Toyota I’ve owned since 2003 when I sold my 1992 truck. After all these years the quality is still unmatched. The truck handles magnificently, has plenty of room, and gets good fuel mileage.

Best truck for the money
The Tacoma itself is a beautiful truck. The only one thing I would change in mine would be brown detailing in the cab, if the cab was all one color it would be perfect. Further than that I'm very pleased.

$38,000 truck with problem after problem
Bought truck off the lot without seeing transport damage on the roof that required body work. Dealer fixed it but now there are major leaking issues on the interior of both the windshield and rear window. A month later, I noticed condensation forming on the inside of the taillight assembly. I have owned the truck for less than 3 months and currently have 3,000 miles on the vehicle. This is my second Tacoma and third new Toyota. Suffice it to say, this will be my last Toyota purchase. Local Toyota dealer who I purchased the vehicle from in Limerick, Pennsylvania has been responsive this far but has not treated me well. Please do not make the same mistake I did. The older Tacoma’s stood the test of time and I wish I had my 2009 back. DO NOT buy the this truck.

Typical Toyota reliability.
Just right for hauling 'stuff' and traveling just about anywhere in comfort relatively economically. Don't need no Goddang 500 hp rig for pulling stumps do ya? Well neither does most of America.....

Love it except the transmission
2019 ST. 4x4. V6. Overall a great truck. I have 3500 miles on it so far. Two improvements would be to add electric seats and improve the shift points for the six speed transmission. My truck seems to hunt for the right gear between 50-65 MPH. It also down shifts hard, like engine braking from 25MPH to a full stop. A full tow load exacerbated this issue, both with shifting and stopping. I bought a base model truck, so I didn’t expect all the bells and whistles but it is not as smooth as I expected it would be. This was hard to discern on a few minutes of test driving. I’m getting used to the ride but I shouldn’t have to, should I?
