Whatever they call it, it's great!

Several reviews I have read of the 2009 Toyota Venza have obsessed that Toyota isn't sure what catagory to put the car in, (i.e. station wagon, crossover, suv, etc.). Regardless of this, after having done my homework before purchasing the 4 cylinder base model, and having driven mine for almost a month, I can wholeheartedly say this is one fantastic vehicle. Regardless of what some of the reviewers say, the 4 cylinder has more than adequate power, is very quiet and works very smoothly with the 6 speed sequential shift automatic. I am getting just over 30 MPG in highway driving and 23 around town. (Try getting that with a V-6.) At 70 MPH the engine purrs at just over 2000 RPM. The ride is very quiet and comfortable. While the base price isn't cheap, the standard equipment list for this vehicle is impressive. Unless you can't do without the extra bells and whistles that raise the price over $30k, there's more than enough features to satisfy most motorists. The body integrity, fit, ride and overall quality of this vehicle is flawless. I predict that the sales of this model will jump once the word gets out, (and the economy improves.)

Needed a Change

We had purchased a new 2006 Mercedes ML350 back in June of 2006, and after 54,000mi and too many problems to list the transmission went out. As the car is my wife's work car we needed something reliable and truly believe we have replaced her car with something better and at a 15K cost reduction.

JUST WHAT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE, GREAT

I LOVE THE CAR SINCE I GOT IT, HAVE HAD LINCOLNS FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS, WENT FOR THIS AND HAVE BEEN SURPRISINGLY PLEASED. I CALL IT AN AVALON ON STEROIDS. THE UPPER MODEL AHS ALOT OF AMENITIES I AM USED TO AND LIKE THE FEEL AND COMFORT. WOULD LIKE A LITTLE MORE CARGO SPACE WITH SEATS UP.

Very nice car (crossover)

I love this car. Eventhough my wife and I miss my previous vehicle's third row seats, height and large cargo space on our Nissan Armada, we really love the Venza since the handling is very good, engine is very silent (my wife doesn't even notice that the engine is already started). Interior is very roomy (leg & head room space is great). I really love the sound system. Exterior design is very nice as well. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone buying a new vehicle.

AWD Venza

I've been driving my 4cyl AWD Venza for about a month now and I love it! There's plenty of room for the two dogs and it's a comfortable ride for the humans. Toyota designed a lot of storage space which is nice since I lost my trunk in the transition from sedan to crossover. I'm liking the built-in slot for my MP3 player, as well. I didn't give the 4cyl a great rating for Performance, probably since I was used to turbo performance. I am pleased that I could get a larger vehicle with decent gas mileage. I've had several strangers compliment the color of my car. Sunset Bronze is eyecatching! I LOVE this color. Not sure whether I like the Smart Key system or not. It's convenient and it's great not fumbling for your key, but the car locks and unlocks itself a lot during a wash job as the handles are sensitive -- kind of freaky. My two suggestions for improvement: 1. For dog owners, a mid-tone interior color would be great as the ivory shows the dirt (and I can't imagine the light gray is any better). On the positive side, the ivory matches the dogs' fur so THAT doesn't show; 2. offer a standard moonroof -- I decided against the panoramic glass roof as it doesn't open over the back-seat passengers so what's the point (my humble opinion). I do miss the added ventilation offered by a moonroof, though.

Venza rating

Well I have to say that the Venza driving experience was amazing. It has excellent handling, a quiet interior, and smooth ride and very roomy. It's a shame there is always one or two bad apples in every bunch that feel the need to provide negative feedback otherwise all of these reviews would be near perfect and rightfully so. Do yourself a favor and take one for a drive, you will not be disappointed.

Another Toyota Success

We looked at all the crossovers and kept coming back to the Venza. In the end, we were convinced that "for the money" it was the best investment. The styling is new and the features are numerous. Quite ride and the gas milage (on regular) is as advertised. The Venza has a "Lexus" fell about it.

Best car ever lived!

I just traded in my 02 Explorer which I loved but had to get rid of. Yet this is even better! I wish they had a 3rd row option because its a big car,but on the other hand its very roomy! I like how comfortable this is and all the cool options you can get.I don't really know how reliable it is yet because I've only drove it 679 miles. Overall its a great car that I would definetly recommend to a friend! Great for any family but again I think it should seat 7 like my Explorer.
