The biggest car I've owned

A lot of space. The top trim has all I need in a modern car. Looks beautiful inside and out. Is not the most powerful car out there, but make the job. The only thing against this car is his full economy. The 4motion (all-wheel drive) drops the full economy by 2 miles. The front wheel-drive make 19 mpg in city, while the 4motion 17. Maybe VW could change that, cause is the same engine. A change in the 4motion system, could disengage 2 wheels when you don't need it and maybe we can get a better gas milage. VW This is a software update!!! Came on!!!

Great family hauler

If you have a family of 5 or more and don't want the hassle of a truck based SUV, the VW Atlas might be the car for you. The interior is extremely spacious with the ability to fit 3 car seats comfortably in the second row and two more adults in the third. The only issues with this SUV would be as follows: lack of performance, when you step on the gas it does not exactly get up and go, I would expect better fuel economy as a result of that, but unfortunately economy has been rather poor at around 20 miles per gallon.

Worst car I ever had

Don?t buy this car it may get you killed! I got this car in October 2017 and after 2000 miles there was something wrong with transmission. The engine light came on and when I took to dealer they told me it was just a sensor. After 12 months driving I had only 5,500 miles when one morning I turned on the engine and drove a few feet the steering wheel froze. I tried to park the car before the Volkswagen sent me towing but couldn?t because steering wheel just froze. Volkswagen towed my car to dealership and after few days they told me the suspension system failed and took them a week to replace. I called Volkswagen corporate office and told them I don?t feel safe to drive this car and explained them that to go to work I take highway and if this happened on highway I would be dead and asked them to terminate the lease cause this is my safety however they told me we won?t terminate your lease unless this happens two more times. I told that regional case manager that next time this happens on highway I won?t be calling you cause I will dead but Volkswagen doesn?t care and unfortunately I gotta keep this car for next two years. If you think about your safety don?t buy VW Atlas

Lots of room and great styling inside and out.

This SUV was great for for a family of 5. I am over 6' tall and used to own a 2015 Tahoe and was more comfortable in the 3rd row in this vehicle, than I was in the Tahoe. The sliding bench is also really nice. We had the SEL 4Motion, and it was great, smooth, handled well, but at the end of the day we offloaded it because the safety features were overwhelmingly annoying. Base models don't have that issue, but the auto on/off was annoying, I don't like vehicles that have it. The auto brake sensors were either too sensitive or not zoned correctly, but there were many false braking events while pulling out of driveways onto busy roads, and that was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Lots of great value, excellent warranty, cheap price, looks and feels like an 75k Audi Q7, for nearly half that price. Also rear tailgate didn't go high enough for me to not hit my head. All and all I love european vehicles, have loved VW thru thick and thin, but this vehicle had too many nuances for me and my family to deal with to appreciate it. But i'd recommend it to anyone, great gas mileage, and yes you can turn off a lot of the safety features and auto on/off, but you have to do it everytime you start the vehicle, it doesn't remember it, and the safety braking one isn't easy to navigate to in the menu, the on/ off is atleast a button on the dash.

Perfect for family!

More room than a Tahoe for almost half the money. Put them side by side and check the space you have in all three rows, especially the back. Then check the cargo area of both. Plus less property tax, way cheaper insurance, and way more fuel efficient. You're welcome, I just saved you 20-40 grand.

Volkswagen Atlas SEL R-line

The Altas won me over. I test drove the Durango, Explorer, Acadia. You cannot beat the interior functionality of the Altas. Its excellent for people with children. The amount of space on the interior beats out most other SUV's. You won't believe how easy it is for adults and children to get in and out of the car--even accessing the third row is easy. I opted for an R-line (sport package) I personally think the Atlas is a bit clunky w/o this option- just not as sharp. Other cars like the Durango, Explorer offer more options for a slicker looking vehicle. For some this is not an issue. I prefer a slicker looking ride. The interior and touch screen is typical if Volkswagen - simple & streamlined. The technology is not overwhelming, but will take some time to understand how to use. There are complaints that the Atlas could use some more horsepower and I agree. I had 4 adults and 2 children for a road trip and could tell the car could use some more "pep". For me it was not a deal breaker. In the rear of the car the interior gets a bit "plasticy" a few more soft surfaces and wood grain would be nice. You cannot check off every box, there is no perfect car, but the Atlas is a very nice SUV. If you can I recommend test driving different car makes in the same day. Start with the Atlas, then drive to another car maker/dealer. It really helps to see the difference the same day. It will make your decisions easier.

Atlas 2.0T?s peppy performance

Excellent acceleration from 2.0T. This SUV is 460 pounds lighter than Atlas with V6. If you can live without AWD this is better and cheaper choice. With less weight to haul around and two fewer cylinders to feed, the Atlas 2.0T was notably thriftier. We have car for 1 week averaging 25.8 MPG on mostly city driving on regular gas. Entertainment center is very easy to use with excellent sound quality + apple CarPlay. So far absolutely no problems with engine or transmission.
