HOT hatch with a smile
I love how it can go from daily driver to corner ripper in the same outing. The car is small and light and is powered by a turbo that can really get on it when you are merging, passing on the freeway but can also be tame enough to not feel obnoxious driving my kids to and from school.

Great Car but Expensive Maintenance
I believe this car is perfect for most people who want a fuel efficient car but also like the fast cars. I average about 27 which is good considering I am driving mostly in the city. However the biggest expense by far is the dsg transmission fluid that you have to change about every 30,000 miles. From a dealer's quote it cost roughly 500 dollars which is outrageously expensive

Best Balance of Style, Performance, Practical
I've owned this car for 5 years and I've been very happy with it. Despite it's small size, it has usable back seats, hatchback utility, great performance and nice features and comfort for a daily commute or a road trip. Fit and finish is very nice and has stood the test of time. There's good after-market support if you wish to make yours more unique from a performance and/or appearance standpoint as well.

Budget Car.
The vehicle is a good daily driver if you don't live in standard traffic which requires your to feather the clutch the entire time. The pick up truly kicks in towards 3000 rpm, but delivers its majority around 1800 rpm. The vehicle feels like its missing some care as far as design and power go, but the reliability fir price is worth it for a decently gas efficient and mediocrely satisfying punch to the turbo inline 4. The interior is a mimic of what would be found in nicer models of Porches and Mercedes with the chrome and carbon trims contrasted by the traditional VW plaid.

This car its more than a simple racing car. It is awesome to drive. Feels unique. You can feel the turbo with each change (it is automatic but still it feels like manual).

HOT HATCH
I LOVE this car. It's got a lot of sport with the turbo, and can park anywhere with ease in the city. It handles very well and feels low to the ground. Rides smooth, and the bluetooth is nice with smartphone.

The True Hot Hatch
The Volkswagen GTI is a lot of things. Cult classic? Check. Weekend thrill ride? Check. Modification magnet? Check. Daily driver? Check! The MK6 GTI was one of the best iterations of Volkswagen's iconic hatchback to grace the shores of the US, and also one of the shortest lived. It took a long time for zee Germans to bring their 6th generation Golf GTI to the US, but it was well worth the wait. The updates to the already superb MK5 were substantial. A better crafted and better looking interior and exterior. Upgraded suspension, breaks, tires and overall ride quality. The same excellent power plant with some minor tweaks to increase efficiency and reliability. There is a good reason the 7th generation GTI looks, feels and drives so similarly to it's older brother. Why mess with perfection?

Its a lot of car for under $30K
I bought my GTI new Dec 2012 for $27200 and I think it is a lot of car for that price. Excellent engine and transmission, very roomy, ... . I only wish it had 17 wheels, the 225/45R18 tires are not really pothole friendly. If you buy a GTI, I recommend buying couple of extra tires from craigslist in case some thing happens to your tires. I have done close to 80K commute on it and it is a true grand tourer.

Excellent; fun to drive
Comfort features; great design. The next best thing to driving a manual transmission car. It shifts smoothly and has excellent pick up, no lag in performance. You feel secure and in control.

Fun little City car
2012 VW GTI , has been a great little car to drive around the city. It's quick without an overwhelming speed , but great to get in and our of tight traffic. A few overall criticism. Although the interior quality is excellent , some of the electronics can be fussy. I had several issues with the moon roof not being able to close due to an electrical shortage. Also , I recommend going down a wheel size from the 18 inch that come standard. In a city full of potholes , I had to replace or repair rims at least once a year.
