Best car that I have ever owned!

I bought the car brand new, and took real god care of it. It has nearly 280,000 and still runs like rand new. I am determined to take it to 300,000 miles which would be a first for me (and I am an old dude. LOL)

Vw not standing behind products

Got an 06 TDI Full load and been driving it when the weather is nice. It's been maintained by VW and has 84k on it , Has issue with door locks not opening, Alarm system not setting and a head liner falling down. At 10k I had to get clutch done as Dual stage disc was falling apart. Also it was the model before emission scam and car cost me 35k and was garage kept and now has a value of 5 to 10 k. P.S. i Have HAD ISSUE OF HEAD LINER ON 3 Jettas TO-DATE.

Jetta TDI is a nice car

Great reliable Diesel BRM engine. Only draw back is it is expensive to do routine maintenance (engine and DSG Tranny). 160k and still running strong. Paint still looks like new. Love driving this car around town, but seats can be a little uncomfortable on long trips. Great front seat leg room for very tall people. Driver pedals are a little tight for large feet. Back seat ok for kids only. Radio marginal. Easy to work on for DIY’ers.

1.9 TDI Jetta - the best of the best!

We have two of these cars. One bought brand new in 2007, now (2020) has 300 000 km and had a timing belt replaced at the recommended mileage, a new battery and alternator. For 13 years of service that is just phenomenal. Oh, and brakes ONCE! The other one we bought in 2012 with 175 000km on it, now has 350 000 km and had a few more things replaced as we bought used. When we purchased it we changed the turbo, timing belt and brakes. I changed rear springs 3 years ago and tomorrow I'm changing the front springs and shocks. Also had to replace the headlights as the plastic becomes fogged up. They both consume between 5 to 7 l/100km depending whether it's highway or in the city i.e. 47-33 mpg. They handle very well, the interior is just right and I like the exterior design very much. I just love the Jetta mkV!

Smooth Ride

If it wasn’t a foreign car I would rate it 5 stars but repairs and car maintenance is too pricey. Just bought a new 2020 corolla and my 2006 Jetta still has a smoother ride while driving.

Great car but problems with transmission

I have the 2005.5 model (first year of the MKV). Overall it's been an excellent car - very comfortable and solid. I've had very few problems other than typical wear and tear items. However, the car has two issues that I know of. The driver side electrical harness was too short from the factory and will cause problems over time. You can get is fixed - will run a few hundred. The other is the transmission. A lot of them start slipping after 100k miles. Fix is usually a new valve body which runs about 2500 installed. Get the new one not the rebuilt. Other than that, great car.

Reliable AND Fun to Drive

This car has been a reliable car that is comfortable and fun to drive. The stereo is great, seats comfortable with plenty of room in the back seat and trunk. I am the second owner and have all the maintenance records.

Great car, Crappy to Fix.

I have loved this car, but have a gripe with the cost of labor to get anything fixed. This is an old car and any time I take it in for work its been +1k. Great city car, easy to park, easy to drive, good gas mileage, really cute exterior. BUT it absolutely sucks to fix, and when things go wrong with the engine it is all downhill from there.
