Good first car

This car met all of my needs and was EXCELLENT on gas mileage. I got almost 45 miles to a gallon! My car was the TDI so it was diesel which was at times, cheaper than gas! Got me from point a to point b.

great car, other than stalling above 80 degrees.

I currently own a 06 jetta 2.5 Wolfsburg. It is a great car, the interior is much better than the standard, and I love the car. It had a problem stalling above 80 degrees. No cure yet but when we looked it up, thousands of the same report.

Loved it, but Bambi's mom didn't

This car was great, if I had not had a kamikaze deer encounter I'd still be driving it and loving it. It was great on the highway, quiet enough and comfortable enough for more than 1000 mile long days. Great MPG, good handling, reliable and fun. I wish I still had it.

It keeps going and going, BUT

The vehicle was used by two previous owners and has 267,000 commuting miles......what could go wrong? The camshaft and flat tappets, the injector control wiring, the headliner falling down, the knobs and buttons material disintegrating, the passenger heated seat has only one setting-burn, dual mass flywheel breakage, a pound of dirt behind the wheel well cover from drainage issues, built almost entirely out of "one time use" bolts, failed soldering on the PTC electric heater resistors (< $500 new to replace), keys are manufacturer only cut and programming (min $100), creeky plastic that makes noise the entire journey, mis-programmed stereo/amplifier setup and that's just scratching the surface of all the work that this vehicle needed to make it this long.

Fahrvergnugen!

The handling is amazing, mountain HWY curves are nothing for this ambitious sedan. Speed acceleration is so subtle, I had to set a speed warning on the dash! The warning system is ultra-sensitive - sometimes there isn't a problem! Not a big deal, simply reset with instructions found in manual. Over all ... a very nice experience.

Great little car with 210k miles

I bought this car in 2006 and have since put over 211,000 miles on it. I have the manual 5 speed and have driven it across the country at least 5 times, with another 7-8 trips up and down the eastern seaboard. Never had any major problems, although sometimes the check engine light comes on and some of the interior electronics have shorted out. In the past few years I've had to replace the headlight lenses as they became fogged. As long as you replace the battery, sparkplugs, oil and tires when needed, this car will serve you well. I love the transmission, ease of use, and reliability. I also like the interior - no frills, just what you need and well designed. Even with a smaller engine it has good acceleration and is fun to drive. I will probably keep the car for sentimental value and upgrade parts piece by piece in order to pass it on. Looking forward to cracking 300k miles with this car.
