jetta 2lt tdi
I am absolutely amazed by the fuel efficiency this car has on offer along with its high pefomance and reliability. An impotant factor i looked out for when purchasing my new vehicle is the running cost involved which the jetta tdi offers with flying colours. Highly recommended to anybody whose looking to purchase a new vehicle.

most under rated car I've ever owned
As an equity analyst for a major NYSE firm, finding "Value" is in my blood . The most amazing aspect of VW and VW TDI's more specifically is how "they" understate the performance of these autos. I have heard from friends that VW's get good MPG but what I am experiencing is out of this world( or country as it may be) . The sticker says this car will give me 30 MPG city and about 40 HWY. OK so I test it out with 2 gallons of fuel and reach 109 miles. If my 8th grade math is right I am getting about 54 MPG combined. I fill up once per month and my monthly fuel bill ranges about $40.00. More amazing is the cornering, acceleration and braking of this vehicle. It is amazingly sporty and handles well. Fits like a glove, looks cool and from what I see on the used car lot, actually appreciates in value over time. Folks , this is not supposed to happen with cars. They are supposed to depreciate the minute your drove them off the lot. Ok now for the bad news: The biggest problem with this car is getting your hands on one. I had to wait 3 months to get my TDI. Everytime the truck would unload a few of these on my local dealer lot, they would have "sold" stickers on them that weekend. Yes I am very happy with my VW and my friends with Hybrids are angry at me.

Fast, reliable, but a bit too sporty
Bought it new 7 month ago, i like the features of this car, specialy with the GPS-navigation (RNS 310). The car is very quite, the torque is awesome, the DSG change the gears very quickly, but sometime not as comfortable, as a conventional automatic. The ride is a bit rough because of the hard suspension (my previous car was a Hyundai XG). I love my Jetta, but in my next car i need more space (maybe a Volvo ??).

Went to buy GLK, came home with a tdi sportswagen
It was crazy. Was about to buy a GLK when the sales mgr. denied the offer worked out the day before with the salesman. Angry, decided to go next door and look at an Audi. Drove a Q5. Determined it was too large for my needs. Saw a handsome wagon (smaller) on the lot. VW tdi. Took a drive and was hooked. It fit us perfectly. Plenty of pick-up, no smells, quiet, easy to handle, good brakes, fine finish inside and out. Bought it. So I saved over 10K and am happy as a clam!

My daughter may never get it
8 months ago, my Volvo S40 had begun costing more in repair bills than it was worth. My daughter is closing in on 15, and since the Volvo wasn't going to make it I wanted to buy a car that she might learn to drive in, and maybe sell it to her at a great bargain in a few years. So safe, reliable, and inexpensive were top needs. Did my research and the Jetta fit those marks. I drove a number of alternatives (Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra). All seemed...well...cheap. I drove the Jetta and was bowled over (for its price class) by its performance, handling, looks, and especially its features. Leather, moonroof, satellite radio with touchscreen, seats four very comfortably and a fifth in a squeeze, huge trunk for a little car, lots of little extras. Very comfortable to drive and the gas mileage is reasonably good. Taken it on road trips, camping trips, and a daily 30-mile commute. In short - looks like my daughter should start talking to Grandma about buying Grandma's old car. I'm not giving up the Jetta.

Fun Car, Great Mileage
A fun car! Well designed, a bit of hesitation with acceleration, but getting used to that. Love it, would recommend.

Sporty and Practical
The SportWagon with the panoramic roof offers a blend of fun and economy that satisfies my spirit without depleting my checking account. I bought it in December 2009 and appreciated the extra source of sunlight even on bleak days. Now that the weather is warm, I can tool around with the roof all the way back and windows down and enjoy a convertible feel without any of the fuss. The heated seats with extra lumbar support are a godsend. This winter my car was one of the most comfortable places I could be--good thing since I travel a lot for work. The dealer advised me that it would take 6000 miles or so before I would get the best mileage, and it is true. I started out getting ca. 25 MPG; with 8000 miles I am now averaging 30 MPG. Liked the TDI and 40+ MPG, but didn't want to spend the extra money. Very happy with the basic S model, which comes with so many features standard that one must pay extra for on most models--like heated seats, Electronic Stability and ABS. Handles well. The car looks small alongside other cars, yet it feels roomy inside and is the perfect size for me--and that is after driving a minivan! I considered the Golf, but am glad I held out for the panoramic roof and the additional cargo space. I expect to fit my bike inside with the back seats folded down. Very happy with this car so far--and hope it holds up for a very long time.

DO NOT buy this car!
I have owned this car for three months. It is the noisiest car I have ever owned. I brought the car back to the dealer to have the noise checked, thinking I had a bad wheel bearing or something, and was told that the sounds were within the "normal" range. There is a terrible blind spot on the passenger side. This makes entering a highway or merging just plain dangerous. The mileage estimates are GARBAGE. My car, a 5 speed gas engine gets 19MPG combined city and highway. I was told I would get at least 25 city and 35 highway. This was the primary reason that I purchased this car. Wow, what a mistake. I wish I had some recourse but it seems I am stuck. For the above reasons I will not recommend this car to anyone. Do not buy it!

TDI Sportwagen - very practical and fun to drive
Downsized from an Acura TL to the TDI Sportwagen 3 weeks ago and have no regrets. You can hear the diesel engine if you leave the windows open, but other than that its not louder than a regular engine. I'm only getting about half the horsepower that the Acura had, but really don't notice the difference that often; there's a lot more pop (torque) in the lower RPMs. I noticed a little turbo-lag test driving the automatic, so I got the manual. The leg space to shift gets a little tight (I'm 6'1"), but it is configurable. If your dealer is honest, they'll tell you that a diesel takes longer to warm up in the winter and isn't going to do you much good if you only take short city trips. The mileage for long distance highway driving is very close to a hybrid (48). I test drove some hybrids too, and they weren't nearly as fun to drive (and a much lighter feel). The cargo area is very useful for hauling larger loads and great for a dog. Best of all: I've got 350 miles on it and still have 1/3 of a tank!
