looks good but a couple of negatives
The Jetta drives nice but it's LOUD. You can definitely tell that the engine is on and hear it when you accelerate. The cabin chamber is noisey; especially on the freeway, it sounds like the windows are not sealed close. The noise drive me nuts, so to eliminate the noise I always have the radio on. Thank goodness it comes with a great sound system. Also, the passenger seat seems to overpower the rear passenger window, making it diffult to see your blind side when changing lanes. The Jetta looks beautiful inside and out, no doubt! But could use a few adjustments to make it more driver comfort/friendly for long distance driving.

Enjoying my new Jetta, for the most part
Bought the 2010 Jetta Sportswagen TDI about 6 weeks ago. Love the panoramic sunroof and the sporty styling. It has a smooth drive and plenty of power. We're averaging 38-39 mpg so far--really pleased with that, too. There are a couple of things I've been disappointed with, though. The number one problem I've had is the new car fumes. I get a headache and extreme nausea almost as soon as I get in the car. We've been keeping the windows open on warm days to try to help it air out, and I've read that most of the fumes should be dissipated within about 6 months, but I think it's unfortunate that there are so many chemicals in the materials that have to be off-gassed in the first place. Who knows what we're breathing? The seats are not particularly comfortable for long drives, even though they are adjustable in many directions. It's as if the seat is tilted at an angle that makes you slouch. I think I'm going to have to get a cushion to remedy this. Finally, the Bluetooth connection leaves something to be desired. This is the first car I've owned that had this connection, so maybe my expectations were too high, or it might even be an issue with my particular phone. At any rate, the sound quality is not great and there are lots of unexpected disconnections. Also, I haven't yet figured out how to turn off the Bluetooth and just use the phone without going through the phone's settings, which obviously shouldn't be done while driving. We got the car because we needed more room than we had in our old Accord, and we wanted something that was safe and got good mileage. We now have plenty of room for the dog and the baby (and all the baby's gear), and I do feel confident in the Jetta's safety features, and we're getting good mileage with the clean diesel. So, despite the issues I mentioned above, we are pleased with the car.

My first VW and first diesel; so far great!
I have only had this car for one month, but have spent a lot of time in it while putting on 3,000 miles. I have been recently getting a combined 40 mpg with mostly highway and some city driving, which has improved slightly over the month. It can be sluggish at the start, and the turbo has hesitated several times getting on the highway, but once it warms up and you're on the highway its smooth 'sailing.' This is a fun wagon to drive, and can go too fast if you're not careful. The panoramic sunroof (which was an extra) adds nice lighting to the interior; when it's wide open on a sunny day it feels somewhat like you're in a convertible. The touchscreen radio is a neat feature and the MDI Ipod connect (which was also extra) is awesome in that you can browse your whole ipod via the touchscreen. The steering wheel radio controls (standard in TDI) are convenient as is the 'two-prong' outlet to charge your cell phone (also standard in TDI).

Great car
We went with a base 2010 Sportwagon TDI with the optional sunroof. We were trying to decide on a sedan or wagon and the sunroof sold the wagon. We have had it for almost 2 months and LOVE it. PROS: Sunroof makes the car feel bigger than it is. Sunshade really makes a difference even though you can see through it. Fun to drive and handles great. Manual transmission is the way to go with a TDI (much zippyier than the automatic). Radio and phone controls on the steering wheel. Touch screen radio is fun to play with and sounds great. Get 46-48 mpg on each tank (mostly highway driving). CONS: No display showing the gear your in - too many times found we were in 5th instead of 6th when going to downshift.

Hey, I like German Engineering
Went from a 1999 Passat to the 2010 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta. Nice ride for a small car. Like the 2.0T engine. Good value for the price. Time will tell about reliability.

Very impressive for a small car
Impressive for it's size. Upscale feel as well. Rides well, decent gas mileage. The nicest interior of all small cars that I've driven. Nice array of standard features make it a good bargain. The seats are supportive but not overly comfortable. I would buy VW again!

Better than a hybrid
I loved my Ford Escape Hybrid but after five years I decided to trade it in for a Jetta TSI in order to get better gas mileage on the highways. I am averaging 39 miles per gallon with mixed local/highway and 37 miles per gallon local driving. It is a great car.

VW Jetta
the Jetta is an overall good car, sure i have had some shakes and rattles, but it doesn't bother me too much. The car is nice to drive from point A to point B, if theres a curvy road all the better, the Jetta handles well, just don't get to carried away, there is quite noticeable body roll, and the car doesn't have the sportiest suspension, so there can be a few bounces here and there. The Jetta's performance isn't half bad, the 2.5L engine give good Horsepower, and a good amount of Torque. the base model is a good car, comes with more goodies than other competitors in its class. and compared to my old car, a Toyota Carolla, its is noticeably better, the Carolla is one of the worse cars i have driven, its uncomfortable to drive, the seats hurt my bum and the steering is meaningless. the Jetta is in comparison a fantastically better car, the build quality is brilliant, there are some cheaper plastic bits here and there, the styling might be conservative, but thats not a bad thing, i actually think its the best looking car in its class. Everything feels solid in the Jetta, the interior materials to the handling, and the vault-like doors give the Jetta the feel of something from a luxury car. The car overall is very German, except its made in mexico, but that doesn't matter. I would not recommend the Jetta t a friend, dont get me wrong the Jetta is a good car, but i would recommend the VW Golf or the Jetta Sportswagon instead. The Golf is more practical, cheaper, better looking, and so much cooler than the Jetta, and with the Golf TDI its comes with better, more sportier suspension. The Jetta sportswagon is more practical, the sportswagon has the same practicality if not more than most crossovers, i think better looking too. the Jetta is a very sensible car to buy, and the Jetta is very nice place to be, I spend a lot of time in traffic jams, so why not be comfortable.

Zippy Wagon
If you are looking for an alternate ride other than a SUV, decent on gas and can carry your things with ease, look no further. This is one cute, smart and efficient wagon. It used to be not cool to have a wagon....well it is now in. Awesome stereo, Ipod connect, blue tooth, nice gages. Not too big not too small.

Traded Benz for TDI
I decided to trade 'down' from a 2-seater Benz SLK280. I have no regrets about buying (on 31 Dec 09) the VW Jetta TDI. I wanted a car I could drive everyday & it has been an excellent decision. I've avg'd 39mpg going to work 27 miles away but have not taken it on a trip out of town. Love the DSG trans., sat touch screen radio & bluetooth; heated seats; tax credit; free sked'd maint! wish it had self-dimming mirrors & ability to turn headlights off & fog lights.
