Best car I’ve ever had.
The car was bought four years ago 50 miles later have had minor problems. The beauty of the trip Tronic transmission in this model has gear oil, for life, not ATF. At 125,000 miles it shifts like new. I’ll probably be buried at it when that time arrives !!

Great value
This SUV has nearly all the features of the BMW X5 and Audi version for about $20K less money. Only real difference was no moon roof, multi cameras and 18 instead of 19 inch tires. Steering is tight and with the TDI Engine the vehicle has 7000+ lbs pull capacity. Interior is great and quiet.

VW Touareg TDI is amazing
Although I have owned this 2012 VW Touareg TDI LUX SUV for only a few months, I can say that it rides and performs like no other SUV I have owned and I have had a lot of Eddie Bauers, Mountaineers and Jeeps and a Lexus. Plus I have had a lot of sedans top to bottom. The feeling of power and confidence in the Touareg is amazing. It seems to like going up hills with acceleration and no sweat. It has a smooth transmission. Power is no problem and fuel efficiency is great too. The real leather seating in the LUX is truly deluxe. The seat position controls and lumbar are good. Although the seats have a 3 person memory, it would be better if they had an automatic entry and exit positions. This vehicle should have auto unlock or touch unlock and keyless ignition. Also the vehicle does not support a remote starter so if you want one installed they have to wire a key under the dash to make it work. Some of the feature controls could be easier understand how they operate. Finally, although I love the Touareg, it was a good thing I bought a CPO warrantied vehicle. During the first month of ownership, it was in the shop twice for almost a week each time to correct things that were not properly done with the emissions recall. Great handling, great ride and it makes me feel good to be behind the wheel.

Beautiful car but may have purchased a lemon
I purchased a 2012 Lux TDI after the exhaust repair patch. I did quite a bit of research and found the mileage is the same. Unfortunately, as soon as I got the car home, we had snow fall and water started leaking into the interior. The dealership fixed it but upon the next snowfall, it continued to leak water. It's assumed it's from the sunroof however, the dealership cleared the drains and yet more water appears. It shows up in the spare tire well, dripping from the map lights, water was under the driver and passenger floor mats, and eventually along the back wall between side window and rear window. Aside from the obvious... this car is a mess... I don't find the center console armrest in a position to be useful at all, unfortunate since I can't seem to get my arms comfortable while driving now. The steering wheel is a bit stiff but overall, the drive is quite comfortable. I'm trying to be open about this car, hoping this is a rare situation.

So far, so good.
I’ve only owned my TDI for a week now, but it’s very comfortable, it gets amazing Fuel economy for an SUV, and it’s really a joy to drive. I love this thing.

Truly is the “Poor Man’s Cayenne”
I was tired driving reliable “appliances like Toyotas and Subarus. Wanted something with a little performance and personality, as well as the utility part of SUV that I need for work. It appears my wish was granted....... just hoping that long term reliability (with the TDI) works out.

By far best vehicle we've ever owned.
My wife and I recently purchased our 2012 Touareg TDI. We've only put about 2K miles on it but it's been amaizing so far. Fuel economy around town averages around 21 mpg and on the highway it's easy to get 28-30 mpg. We did a road trip to CO and averaged 29.8 mpg over 500 miles on our return trip. Styling is understated but very attractive. Extremely comfortable seating for all - plenty of adjustment for both driver and passenger, very easy to get the optimal driving position. Ride is firm but extremely confident - it shares its platform with the Porsche Cayenne afterall and handles incredibly for its size and weight. The interior is extremely well put together, everything is exactly where you want it to be, and exudes a quiet luxury. We bought our Touareg used with 77K miles on it and everything looks, sounds and feels like a new car - everything tight and zero rattles. Ours is an Executive model so it has the excellent Dynaudio audio system that sounds amazing, panoramic sunroof, 20 in wheels, keyless entry and more. Due to the whole Dieselgate thing it comes with VW's 48K, 4 year extended warranty which is nice. It's also capable of towing up to 7700 pounds which is crazy. We're hoping it's going to be reliable going forward but so far it's easily the nicest vehicle we've ever owned.

Pay Attention!
I have the V-6 TDI. It’s awesome. I bought it about a month ago. It’s a 2012 with 70,000 miles. Looks and feels brand new. Got it CPO as well, so 2 years bumper-to-bumper warranty with unlimited mileage. It’s nicer and way more powerful than a Lexus RS 350 of the same year. Also stupid fast. And smooth. Caught myself doing 110 on a lonely stretch of interstate early one morning. No shakes or shimmies at all. Only complaint is the navigation system still thinks the car is somewhere in Illinois, and I haven’t figured out how to reset it. Also has great storage. Took a 3 day road trip with 4 people and there was plenty of room in the backseat for a comfortable ride, and more than enough storage in the back. I’ll have this car a long time!

I would have no hesitation in recommending this car vehicle to anyone. Great handling in all weather. Awesome comfort at a very realistic price. Compares favorably to all luxury brands.
