I've had this car for 5 years almost enjoyed the car for about maybe a year. I bought it in 2020 with 75,000 miles used it came from a car rental company in Texas, which people tell me is a good thing. It's a manual transmission, the turbo model. With in the first 6 months of owning the car I spent $3,000 on it just to fix it. I had to replace the blow off valve, waste gate I think?? Turbo, and purge valve. How ever that was a problem with the mechanic over all would have cost me about $5,000. However I don't think I could ever own another Hyundai again, especially the Veloster model. I am currently at 128,800 miles, and burning large amounts of oil, and I need to replace 1st and 2nd synchros, I have been driving manual since I was 15, and I took really good care of the car maintenance wise, and drove it very well. I can barely drive it through the mountains without the engine lagging and feels like the engine is bottoming out. If you live some where with 4 seasons, good luck I have had some very close calls in this car with snow and rain. The car is very light and there is no weight to it to get tractions. It's heavier in the front than the back and it is front wheel drive and your back and slides out if you go faster than 40mph in snow or rain. I have almost spun into ditches due to this issue. The power of air, A/C and heat is not that great I over heat in the summer. Another main issue is the cruise control and stereo. The cruise control would work and then randomly not work. I accidentally figured if you smack the right side of the steering wheel it might work then. My stereo sometimes goes in and out with the Bluetooth and sometimes won't even let me reconnect when it goes out. Cosmetic issues the paint is bad, the clear coat is chipping off and the paint is fading really bad. However, would say that it was a very comfy car to drive in doesn't hurt my back and with the bucket seats I feel like I don't slide around a bunch. When I first bought it, I had a lot of fun and it made me really start to enjoy cars. The unique design of the car with the three doors, always made people interested in the car. While it was a learning experience it was still my first nicer car. I'm just ready to sell and not worry when my car will give out or stop working.

I have owned this car for 2.
I have owned this car for 2.5 years and at first really enjoyed it however a month in the backup camera stopped working (need a new head unit) but the real issue was the engine giving out at 84000km (54000 miles). After doing a tear down of the engine the cause was the piston rings had broken and the actual piston in cylinder 2 broke. For such low KM I was mind blown, buy at your own risk and that goes for and Hyundai vehicle
