I bought a used 2019 Hyundai Sonata in June of 2023 and I have had to add oil twice a week it burns through oil as fast as gas. I have spent money I don’t have buying oil by the gallon.

Great used car
I bought my car as used from the dealer. I have had no issues so far with it. The radio and heater work better than my old Toyota Corolla.

Frequently Stolen
Purchased used as Certified PreOwned with 30K miles. One week later it was stolen. Subsequently learned that this car is one of the most frequently stolen cars by teenagers. Something called the "Hyundai / Kia challenge" is a nationwide issue. Apparently Someone knowledgeable about stealing cars posted a step by step video on TikTok showing kids how to break into and hot wire these cars in 5 minutes or less. These cars with the old style manual key (not push button) can easily be stolen using an inexpensive common computer cable which simply plugs into a couple outlets. I think the rear windows may also not be wired into the cars security system. Hyundai has not issued a recall and collision shops across the country are backed up repairing these cars, parts are hard to get due to the number of stolen cars. Repairs might take a couple months due to shortage of parts.
