I bought a 2015 OS ES 4wd brand new. Once we had our second child in 2022 we outgrew it. My mom now drives it… it has 180k on it and we literally have NEVER had to do anything more than routine maintenance. We live in MN and this thing rips through the snow. The 4wd is far superior in the snow compared to awd. I bought a 2017 outlander to replace my 2015 Outlander Sport. It also has the 2.4L engine which is why I wanted it. It’s not as fancy on the interior as some vehicles but Anyone that actually drives one of these will tell you how reliable they are. We have a family and live in a suburb so the most important features for us are reliability, safety, fuel economy, and affordability which Mitsubishi hits all the marks!

A fairly dependable SUV — just so plain!

Okay, so I’m probably being harder on this car than most would for reasons that seem superficial to most. I bought a base model of this used about a month ago, and I’m honestly having some buyer’s remorse over it. I know it’s a base model, but even considering that, for a 2015 it’s just so… soulless. Literally no personality, no interesting details, nothing that sets it apart from every other SUV on the road. Don’t get me wrong, for almost everyone, that’s probably fine, because you’re likely just looking for a practical vehicle that handles terrain well, which in the ~5k miles I’ve already put on this (I drive a LOT) I can say it does with ease. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already looking around for something with a bit more character I could swap this for.
