I bought my second Honda Odyssey thinking it would be

I bought my second Honda Odyssey thinking it would be just as reliable as my 2009 one. 5 years later, I totally regret I didn't get rid of this car before the warranty was up several years ago. It has caused me so much anguish, fear even and I have wasted so much of my life going to the Honda dealer to get this car safe to drive!!! First, the brakes squeak and have since the first few months after I bought it. The dealer said they are fine and they would have had to totally redo the brakes or wheels or whatever they said4 1/2 years ago. I had little kids and had other more important issues with the car at the time so I ignored that- I regret that. The entertainment/navigation screen stopped working several times and they finally fixed that after 3-4 visits. The collision mitigation system alarm comes on at random times and has, ever since before warranty ended. They have given me the runaround every single time I have brought the car in for this problem. I finally refused to pay any more money to fix it. They gave me a new one under warranty & then told me I needed another new one recently... I refused and they contacted Honda America and they actually replaced it for free- except my dealer absorbed the $250 they were requesting. (Grateful). The alarm still goes off (recent). Then, the auto idle doesn't work properly and my car has continuously stalled at lights. The whole car stops and I can't even turn it back on for a minute and I'm waiting at a green light. It is scary because I don't want someone to rearend me AND my kids!! Also, the brake alarm has come on at times when NO ONE IS even close to me in front of me. Additionally, the battery has needed changing twice in 4 years! What a headache. Stay away from the 2020 Honda. I finally filed a lemon suit. I def got a lemon... but I really hoped Honda would stand by their product like the Helpful Honda people they claim to be.

Reliable, flexible and well designed

I've owned two Odysseys over the past 20 years, with the 2020 being the one we currently own. The 2020 has proven to be just as reliable as our other Odyssey and the Honda Accords that we've owned. The 2020 Odyssey has a smooth ride, comfortable attractive interior. The Magic seating system makes this van even more flexible for hauling loads of kids and family, while being able to quickly change to hauling lots of cargo.

Never again

Was in the shop 5 or 6 times in the last 6 months with a popping noise in the front-end they replace everything in the front suspension, noise came back after a week then replaced sway bar links still didn't fix it, replaced bolts on the engine cradle and that seems to have fixed it. All covered under warranty. Then at 36576 miles the camera in the windshield went out while on vacation 1500 miles from home, found a dealer that was able to work it in and get the replacement camera. This camera controls the adaptive cruise control, front collision mitigation, lane keep assist, lane departure mitigation and auto high beam. I called honda corporate and after 2 days a representative called me and said there was nothing they would do as it was 2500 miles over the warranty and it's a car and cars breakdown. He told me to drive it 1500 miles back home and have the dealership at home repair it and they might be able to help cover the cost of $1300. I didn't want to drive that far without all the safety features working and he told me that that's on me. With the problems we've had I would never recommend the honda brand, thought they were more reliable that's why I bought it.
