Bought this from a used car place 7 years ago and it had no issues. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined so over the years I was able to fix things here and there. Asked a few friends for help on occasion. The past year I've changed a lot of parts but the car is almost 20 years old and 175k miles on it. Changing some parts are very tricky, but I've avoided the dealership or paying someone all this time. No rust on it either and I drive it in snowy weather every year. Turbo is so nice, nice and zippy vehicle.

Worst car I have ever owned. It was always at the dealership. It was a 2002 W8 and when I bout it, it had 22K on it. Nothing but problems. Everything you can imagine went wrong with the car and when it had 100K the motor went. Car was maintained by dealership with all required maintenance and it has to be service by a W8 certified mechanic.

I'm considering buying a 2003 Passat with 74K miles, for the price-point/budget. The engine looks clean, the interior & exterior are in pretty good shape for the year, no visible rust. Gonna have a mechanic look at it tomorrow. I've read about sludge & maintenance cost
