(upbeat music) <v Announcer>Cars.com Auto Review. Hi, this is Joe Bruzek from Cars.com. We're here with the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. Now, the Grand Sport is a new model for 2010, and is a cross between the base Corvette and the Z06.
There's a lot of Z06 flavor in the Grand Sport. You have this lower chin spoiler, the Z06 hood scoop. There's also wider fenders for wider tires. Now, unique to the Grand Sport is this side scoop. Also borrowed from the Z06, you have this brake duct in the rear spoiler. Unlike the Z06, which is a fixed-roof car, you can get this removable roof, or if you just wanna go topless, you can get a convertible. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and an automatic is optional. There are a few benefits of sticking with a manual transmission. You get a launch control feature, which will give you consistent launches, full throttle. And then you get a dry-sump oiling system, which you'll see benefits on the racetrack. Under the Grand Sport's hood is the base Corvette engine. Now, you may remember the previous Grand Sport. It was 1996, they all came in Admiral blue with a white stripe and a red hash mark. Now, this Grand Sport, you can get in any Corvette color. I think that ruins the Grand Sport heritage, which dates back to the '60s. With that being said, I still like how this car drives. And at $54,000, only 6,000 more than the base Vette, it's still a good performance car for the money.
