(rock music) (upbeat music) Hi, I'm Mike Hanley, with cars.com, and this is the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder.
Its focus is on top-down motoring, even more than the regular Boxster, but there are gonna be times when you're gonna wanna put the roof up in this car. A lot of times when we talk about soft tops, we talk about it going up or down in seconds, but with the Boxster Spyder, you have to adjust your timeframe to minutes, because it's a completely manual process. The first thing you do is connect the top to the rear roll bars. Then you extend it to the latch at the windshield frame. Then you have to add the other pieces of the top. It's a window that goes behind and snaps to the front part of the top. After that, you can extend the wings to make the top taut. So there you have it, now the top's in place, but it's clear that this is a soft top that's not really for all-weather capability. It's thin, it's a single piece of canvas, it's not lined like a lot of new soft tops are, and when you put up the side windows, it doesn't completely seal with the side of the roof, so best to take this car out when you know it's gonna be sunny. <v Man>For more car-related news, go to cars.com, or our blog, kickingtires.net.
