(car engine starting) Nothing says affordable compact like a Toyota Corolla, but Toyota attempted to make that car a little sexier now with this refresh and some new interior styling.
A lot going on here up front, the overall effect is to kinda take the nose and drag it forward a little bit, especially toward the bottom here. We see Toyota's big kind of fanning out lower grill here, similar to what you see on the Camry and the Avalon, both bigger cars. A very small grill up here now with Toyota's logo, front and center, kinda take some cues from Toyota's Mirai, it's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. LED headlights now standard on this car here at the auto show, this is an XSE trim level, a little more technical appearance going on. A lot of changes inside the car now, especially in the center part of this dashboard, a little bit of a minor redesign here with new climate controls. A seven inch screen here in this car at the auto show, backup camera standard across all trim levels now, didn't used to be that way. It looks like there's some capacitive touch buttons along side this screen here, we're not too fond of that, the last one had real buttons there. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, still not offered here, Toyota does have an Entune multimedia system though. Now, there's some other frills, things like this sort of stitched ribbon here, along the bottom part. Overall, a very attractive stack to dashboard, I'm not sure why Toyota invested so much in there, and didn't invest in certain things like touch points along the upper parts of the door, that's where your arms and your elbows go, a lot of competitors pad that area. Forward collision warning with automatic braking will be widely offered as an option on the Corolla, but we still don't know some answers to important questions like whether Toyota did anything to improve the car's small overlap frontal crash test, that score wasn't so good. We should find out all of this and more closer to the new Corolla's on sale date this fall. (car trunk banging)
