We're here at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show for the first public viewing of the 2020 GMC HD lineup. That's 2500 and 3500 but right behind me is the AT4 HD, let's take a closer look.
Now the entire lineup has heavier duty frames and heavier duty suspensions in order to accommodate bigger payload numbers and big towing numbers. Inside it's pretty much a carry over 6.6 liter Duramax engine, 445 horsepower, 910 foot pounds of torque. The people that we've talked to at GM say that their customers don't need more torque but they are going to get a 10-speed Alison transmission, heavy duty and they're also gonna get a new gas direct injection V8, a 6.6 liter as well that is gonna provide 401 horsepower and 460 foot pounds of torque. GMC is gonna continue there for trim lineup. So Work Truck, SLT, AT4 and the Denali. So Denali is gonna have a lot of chrome everywhere but the AT4, we like the subtle grays and the black and the grill and also these vertical highlighted in red tow hooks. Inside, very familiar with the light duty interior styling and that's intentional. They're trying to create a little less difference between the 1,500 and the heavy duty lineup. Love the dual glove boxes, the more organic center console, plenty of storage here in the middle, big, giant deep well here with power plugs as well as an all wheel drive system especially in this AT4 that allows you to select different terrain modes. Plenty of power points, AC controls and plenty of storage here in the back both under the seat and little hidden storage compartments in the seat backs. And a lot of big changes in the bed as well. We love the fact they've got a new step on every single heavy duty gives you quick access into the bed which is much wider than before and the longest in the segment. Of course, we have to talk about the multi pro tailgate. Now, if you've been snoozing on your truck news, you know that this is a six way new tailgate system that allows easy access into the bed. You've got a nice grab bar here to make it much easier to get into any cargo you've got back here. Look at that, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. Now a lot of people are gonna maybe be a little bit hesitant about the multi pro tailgate but once more people get a chance to use it, we think that they're gonna really jump in and probably want this on every vehicle that they have from now on.
