Video: Up Close With the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid

So let's dig in. (upbeat music) The new hybrid powertrain is the obvious star of the show. Subaru says total system output is 194 horsepower. That's up from the internal combustion Forester's 180, and estimates that the Forester Hybrid's fuel economy will be 35, 34, and 35 miles per gallon city, highway and combined. That's approximately a 40% increase in city fuel efficiency and a 25% increase in combined fuel efficiency. Your sole transmission choice, however, remains a continuously variable transmission. Despite the alternative powertrain, the Forester Hybrid retains 8.7 inches of ground clearance and per Subaru tradition, comes with standard all-wheel drive. Visual changes to the Forester Hybrid's exterior are mild. It gets one exclusive exterior paint color, Daybreak Blue, and certain other colors can be compared with a contrasting black roof. Hybrid fender badges and one on the rear lift gate will be the most obvious giveaways. The interior is largely the same as the gas Forester, though the hybrid gets a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument panel that displays hybrid-specific information and can integrate both built-in navigation and Apple Maps functionality. The central touchscreen remains the same 11.6-inch vertical oriented screen we've seen in the other Subarus and that we're not huge fans of, though you do get wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The Forster Hybrid will also have the latest version of Subaru's Eyesight Suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Technology. Subaru says that all the details, including pricing for the 2025 Forster Hybrid will be available closer to its launch in spring of 2025. So for all the details, stay tuned to cars.com/news.
