Hi, I'm Brian Normile cars.com road test editor and I'm getting our first look at the 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness. Let's check it out.
(upbeat music) The 2026 Forester Wilderness gets a similar rugged appearance to its predecessor with updated front and rear bumpers, aggressive body cladding, standard roof rails, anodized copper exterior accents, aggressive Yokohama Geolandar tires and exclusive 17 inch wheels. Subaru Wilderness badging completes the look. The 2026 Forester Wilderness includes an upgraded X-mode all-wheel drive system with snow dirt and deep snow mud settings, a revised transmission, upgraded rear differentials, transmission cooler, and 9.3 inches of ground clearance an increase over its predecessors 9.2 inches and more than the 8.7 inches of a standard Forester. It also adds additional underbody protection and Subaru says the approach, departure and breakover angles should all be better than the previous Forester Wilderness and the standard Forester as well. With the upgraded transmission cooler, the Forester Wilderness can also tow up to 3,500 pounds, an increase of 500 pounds from its predecessor. Inside the Forester Wilderness retains its easily cleaned and water resistant upholstery called StarTex. There are more anodized copper accents and it's the first non-hybrid forester to come available with a 12.3 inch digital instrument panel. Subaru says they'll have full details for the 2026 Forester Wilderness, including pricing closer to when it goes on sale towards the end of 2025. So stay tuned to cars.com/news for all the details.
