10 Biggest News Stories of the Week: Kia EV9 Takes Backseat to Hyundai Ioniq 6, Tesla Model 3

Given that premium car buyers pay to opt for all-electric vehicles, those taking the plug-in plunge need to be playing the long game if saving money on fuel is their ultimate objective. Besides the fact that electric vehicles are simply spendier than gas-powered ones, one needs to consider the price of all-but-necessary Level 2 charger installation in their home and the accompanying increase on their electric bill, as well as the likely lengthy time fuel savings will offset the start-up costs. All of this to say that EV shoppers could benefit from a break on the price of their new car — and Cars.com’s most popular news article of the past week can help them find it.

If price is considerably less of a concern and you remain committed to an all-electric vehicle — but need one that’ll accommodate your family and all the stuff that comes with them — then the 2024 Kia EV9 must be on your test-drive list. And while you’re test driving, be sure to spend a little seat time in that pioneering third row to see if it has what you want in a wayback. Cars.com reviewer Jennifer Geiger did just that, piling her brood into the rearmost seats to see how adults, children and kids’ car seats fare back there. Car seats fit with mixed results, but youngsters in low-back booster seats or no safety seat at all will find their environs comfortable and accommodating. Larger adults will, at worst, be fine … so long as the passenger seated in front of them is sympathetic to their plight of being banished to the backseat.
