I was never good at math, so decimals make me cringe, but in the case of the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport, the equation is simple. Nissan announced today that the subcompact SUV gets more standard safety features for the half model year for a modest price bump. The 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport starts at $23,085 (all prices include destination), $470 more than the model-year 2018 version.

Similar to what Nissan did with the larger Rogue compact SUV for 2017.5, the automaker today announced half-year safety upgrades. Newly standard safety features include the auto emergency braking, blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert systems. Mid-level SL trims also get standard adaptive cruise control this year. Nissan says the Rogue Sport is the eighth vehicle in its lineup to include automatic emergency braking as standard.

Some competitors in the subcompact SUV class, like the Ford EcoSport, which starts at $20,990, and the Honda HR-V, which starts at $20,645, don’t even offer an automatic emergency braking system. Others, like the Toyota CH-R, which starts at $23,495, include it as standard equipment. Some, like the new Hyundai Kona subcompact SUV, which starts at $20,450, offer it as an option on uplevel trims.

The 2018.5 Rogue Sport is on sale now.
