New 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance: 510 HP, 0-60 MPH in 2.9 Seconds

When it comes to high-performance Teslas, the Model S Plaid gets all the attention with its four-digit power rating and claimed sub-two-second 0-60 mph time. While the new 2024 Model 3 Performance has only half the horsepower of the Plaid, its smaller size means it can still accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in less than three seconds at a savings of $35,000 compared to the maximum Model S.

More Than Just More Power
In addition to the updated exterior and interior styling of all Model 3s for 2024, the Model 3 Performance is thoroughly reworked underneath, from stiffer suspension mounting points to new tires. In between are steel springs, a unique sway bar and adaptive dampers, which have three settings: Standard, Sport and Track. Track mode now integrates multiple systems — the electric motors, dampers, cooling system and stability control — in an effort to improve on-track performance.
The equipped Pirelli P Zero 4 tires were developed specifically for the Model 3 Performance and have lower rolling resistance than those on the previous version, helping to increase range. The Performance also gets upgraded brake pads as standard equipment.
Visually, the Performance is set apart from other Model 3s with distinct front and rear ends, as well as a front splitter and rear diffuser. Power-adjustable sport seats with heating and ventilation are standard, keeping occupants comfortable regardless of the setting for their hooliganry. Carbon-fiber interior trim bits add a bit more sporting flair.

But Also, More Power
The Model 3 Performance is available exclusively with all-wheel drive. Tesla says the front and rear motors combine for 510 horsepower and will catapult the electric car to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. (The dual-motor Model 3 Long Range accomplishes that feat in an already impressive 4.2 seconds.) Tesla also lets the Performance run all the way up to 163 mph, whereas the Long Range variant tops out at 125. The EPA hasn’t officially rated the Performance’s range yet, but Tesla expects it to land at 296 miles, whereas the Long Range can manage 341 miles on a charge.
