Top 5 Reviews and Videos of the Week: 2019 Ram 1500 Loads Up on Luxury
The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 debuted nearly a year ago and has spent the time since then collecting praise and accolades, including from those of us at Cars.com and sister site PickupTrucks.com. Cars.com reviewer Aaron Bragman was a judge at our recent 2018 Best Half-Ton Truck Challenge, where the Ram won the subjective portion of the test handily. Lots of that praise is due to a true luxury interior available on Limited trim-level trucks.

Not everything about the Ram is roses, however, thanks to what happens when you add all the weight that comes with the Limited’s luxury touches, according to Bragman.
“The truck’s weight also works against it for payload capacity,” Bragman stated. “If you option up a Ram 1500 for maximum abilities, you can achieve a max tow rating of 12,750 pounds and a max payload of 2,300 pounds. But load up your truck with luxury trimmings, and you’ll get what our test truck had — a payload rating of just 1,180 pounds. Put five 200-pound guys in the cabin, and anything more than two big bags of dog food in the bed would exceed the safety ratings. That ain’t much, and it reinforces the idea that as a luxury vehicle, the Ram works beautifully — but the trade-off for that cushiness is truck utility.”
