Best dealership

The folks at Tommie Vaughn are terrific. They take the time to listen to you and what you need, then they get you in the right car for the right price. They guide you through the paperwork and take all the time you need to be comfortable with your purchase. Been coming to Tommie Vaughn since 1985. Good people everywhere - owners, sales, service, finance and you name it!

Tommie Vaughn Ford - 2018 Ford Edge.

I went to Tommie Vaughn for a used vehicle due to buying a used vehicle from Jim T ( now in New Car Sales @ TV Ford ) when he was at a different dealership. Working with Jim T and Cesar M, I was able to get such a good deal, & on my trade in, that I ended up buying a new car, a 2018 Ford Edge. These 2 guys are very personable, as well as Mickey W, who worked with me on financing. The whole process was in a no pressure atmosphere, from finding what I wanted & in my price range, to finalizing the financing. Great place & people @ Tommie Vaughn Ford in Houston, Tx.

Upgrade

The process of trading in and buying a new car was extremely easy. My salesman was able to negotiate the whole deal without having to run get approval from “my manager” which moved the process along quickly and smoothly. The financial manager made filling out all of the paperwork less daunting because of her vicious personality. Overall it was a pleasant buying experience.

Buyers beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading all the reviews (mostly for the service though), I would’ve thought that my experience with this dealership would have been much better but that wasn’t the case. It all started with a BMW Z4 that they advertised on cars.com and selling it on EBay as well. I contacted them and requested some more information since I was 1,000 miles away and couldn’t see it in person. I was told by one of their sales people that the car was in perfect condition with no dents or scratches. After discussing the car with my wife, I bid on it on EBay and called the internet sales person to discuss the offer. We came to an agreement on the price and once more, I was told that there’s nothing wrong with the car and it’s in great condition. I told him that I would be purchasing the car and flying in that very same evening. Then I would drive the car back to Chicago the next day after getting all the paper work completed. I asked that the car be detailed before I see it next morning. The internet sales person was to pick me up from the hotel and at the same time this would give me chance to test drive the car. I was told later that the car had just finished being detailed (which was a lie; the car was dirty in and out). Forward, to the next morning, when the sales person showed up in the car by the hotel. I walked out of the hotel and was about 20 feet away from the car and spotted 3 large dents on the passenger side of the car. I gave a quick inspection of the car and noticed more dents and many scratches on the trunk and rear quarter panel. I was disappointed but proceeded to drive the car back to the dealership and see if everything else was okay. After getting into the car, I noticed more problems: tire pressure sensor, cluster partially burn out, head light not working and windshield gasket partially missing. Quick call to local BMW dealer confirmed that lights, cluster board, tire pressure sensors and rubber gasket would cost me anywhere from $2100 to $3,000 depending on what the headlight problem was. That’s not including dents and scratches. The internet salesman said that there was nothing that can be done about the price and he apologizes for the sales person that told me that the car was in perfect condition. I asked to talk to the manager Michael Colvin. He knew that they had me because I purchased a one way ticket and had no way to get back home other than either driving their car back or getting another last minute airplane ticket (which is not cheap). After some more negotiations, I was still willing to purchase the car but not at the price that we initially agreed. He said that he had another customer that test drove the car the day before and was interested in buying it. He was just waiting to see if the car would sell or not. He lowered the price by almost $500 and I was asking for $700 discount which is more than fair. He said he wouldn’t lower it that much and that the car will be sold to the other customer. I went back and asked the first sales person why he did not mention those dents and scratches. His response was “I’m 67 years old; my eyes are not as good as yours”. I asked to be taken to the airport and they did, that was the only good thing they did. As anyone could see that Michael Colvin does not have customer satisfaction as the priority for the business they run there. They lied knowing that in my situation that I would be forced to take whatever condition the car was in because I would have already invested in one-way airfare, taxi, and hotel. I was counting on them for their honesty. The way he handled this situation was terrible and unethical. This trip cost me $1020 in which a little human decency or honor would have been respectable. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!! Draw your own conclusions. BTW over 2 weeks later and the car is still for sale on their website!

Battery issue

I had an intermittent issue with the battery dieing. Since this is a hybrid the diagnostics plus changing the battery is not typical process. I was kept informed as to scope and of recommended repairs.

A Number 1

I purchased my first new car from Tommie Vaughn Ford in 1966 and my last new purchase was 2016. That should tell you that I like this Dealership. Their service department the most dependable of any I have used in the USA. (I traveled a lot in my working days, now retired.)
