Very good experience!

Worked with Don Thurston or sales consultant, and Amy Courtney the Business Manager. We were treated as if we knew them for ever. No questions went unanswered and went out of there way to take care of us, right down to the popcorn. LOL Rick Plum also jumped in to help making us feel at home! Thanks!

Dihonest and Incompetent

DISHONEST AND INCOMPETENT! I purchased a used Jeep Wrangler from McDonald Ford In early November 2017. I dealt with a salesman, J.D. who is no longer employed there. The vehicle had around 40K miles on it when I test drove it and both the salesman and I could hear a faint noise coming from the rear which I was 90% was coming from a worn brake pad. Not a big deal and very typical for a vehicle with 40K miles. I offered a price to the J.D. that was lower than asking explaining that I would likely have to have the rear pads and rotors replaced soon. His Manager Joe Yax, then came over and made a counter offer with with the stipulation that McDonald Ford would "take care of the brakes". I agreed to his offer. I told J.D. that I would not be financing the vehicle and would like to pay cash. I, for some reason was still introduced to Chris, in the finance dept. Chris is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet so I decided to listen to what he had to say. I explained quite frankly that I didn't need a loan and he actually stuck his bottom lip out and made a pouty face, which I don't think I'd ever seen a grown man do before. He then told me he could get me a great rate and that loans were the only way he personally made money. I asked that if I made a large down payment and financed the rest would he still receive a commission, to which he replied, yes. I figured I'd pay off the loan in the next couple months and he would make money which seemed like the right thing to as it was effectively no difference to me. He came back with the same rate from 2 different institutions, one of which Security Credit Union, was local and with whom he'd worked with before. I went further to ensure that I didn't have to set up a checking account with them in order to pay online and I also did not want to set up an automatic debit from my checking account, I simply wanted to be able to pay via their website. He assured me I was able to to just that. This is not the case at all! I have to write and mail a check for each payment. I drove 100+ miles to pick up the car 2 days later and since then I've discovered how dishonest and incompetent this dealership is. I drove to within a mile of my home to pick up a set of wheels and tires that I wanted to put on the Jeep. I took it to a local tire place to have them changed out. They pulled off the front and rear tires and found that one of the rear brake caliper pins was seized, and it or the caliper had to be replaced. With my own 2 eyes I could see pad was worn unevenly and completely on one side the rotor had obvious grooves in it. It's obvious that no one at the dealership had even looked at the brakes let alone "TAKEN CARE" of them as Joe Yax had promised. I live only a couple miles from the tire shop so I asked them to mount the new tires, including the spare (which mounts on the rear door of the jeep) and I would replace the brake myself. Upon attempting to remove the spare the tire shop asked where the wheel lock key was as the spare was mounted with locking lug nuts. I searched the vehicle and couldn't find one. So, I called the dealership to see if they put it in some inconspicuous location in the vehicle. I again talked to Joe Yax, and asked where the wheel lock key was. He didn't know and told me he would look for it and that I could come by and pick it up. I explained that I lived 100 miles away and that moreover, the brakes he had vowed to "TAKE CARE'' of were shot and I couldn't make the trip even if I felt so inclined, as well as the fact that if I got a flat along the way, there was no way to get the spare tire off to replace it. He wanted to talk to me about the brakes while he had me on the phone and I explained I was paying hourly labor and that he would have to wait, or better yet, figure it out on his own as he's the manager. I ultimately had to authorize the tire shop to break the wheel lock and spare tire mount. I've had to pay $600+ to fix everything not to mention lying about brakes is a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE

Above and Beyond Expectations

After ordering a truck that was never delivered from a local dealership, I went to this dealer because they had a one in stock somewhat close to what I was looking for. After driving it I decided I wanted one that was equiped with the things I was looking for and thus started the search. A couple of other dealers that I was talking with said that what I was looking for couldn't be found this late in the model year, but Rick Plum at McDonald's kept searching and found one that was close, went and retrieved it and added the things that were missing. The service I received from them was outstanding and even upon a return visit they went beyond my expectation in trying to buff out a scratch in the door somehow I manage to acquire. After purchasing several new vehicles of other brands throughout my life, this is my first Ford and the best experience ever at a dealership. They treat you like family. Rick truly did everything he could to please us and for that we are grateful and delighted in our new truck purchase.

was not good experience

My husband and I went to go look at a vehicle. When we arrived the vehicle was on the lot supposedly ready for a test drive and purchase. There was a salesman right there by happenstance parking another vehicle. He was very nice. He pulled the vehicle we we're interested in out for us to look at. He popped the hood and we found that the battery was corroded. We asked if the vehicle had been through the 100+ point check then why is the battery corroded. He just said good question. He also said that the vehicle did go on a test drive that morning. He took my DL for a copy and while he was doing that another salesman came up. It happened to be the one I spoke with on the phone when I inquired about it. We told him that the other guy was making a copy of my DL. When that guy came back with my DL the sales guy that I spoke with on phone decided to take over without asking us. He asked us if he wanted should drive for the test drive. WHAT?!?! Since when does the salesperson drive during a test drive? I went to start the vehicle and it would not start. Guess what? The battery was dead. The brake pedal was worn. The salesman asked a few more times if we wanted him to drive and there was no gas it to test drive. Not very impressed.
