STOP, DO NOT BUY FROM FRANKMAN AUTO BEFORE READING
STOP, DO NOT BUY FROM FRANKMAN AUTO BEFORE READING THIS: I recently purchased a used car from Kevin Frankman, owner of Frankman Auto, and I want everyone to know that I was sold a car that had multiple issues. I had seen this car advertised on Hemmings and it was a purchase for my son. I talked Kevin Frankman to discuss the car. I asked if there were any mechanical issues, any leaks, any cracks in the dashboard, etc. He replied the car was is excellent condition and the only issue was the front right bumper with some damage. I purchased the car in good faith and trust knowing I had talked to him a few times about the car and the safety requirements for my son. After receiving the car, it has multiple issues: 1. The tires were from 2005 and rotting 2. The coolant is leaking 3. Power steering is leaking 4. AC does not work 5. Back tail lights all cracked and damaged 6. Dashboard is cracked in multiple places 7. Smaller issues around tubing, gaskets, etc. These are just a few items. His response was nothing more than, this is an older car and expected to have wear and tear. All these repairs are now totalling over $7000. I was trying to be amicable and asked him to either buy back the car or fix the damages so it is safe to drive for my son. He does not want to do this. So now I want everyone to know what type of situation I find myself in and for everyone to be AWARE it could happen to you. I will continue to inform others of my experience and hope you all learn for my mistake of trusting a used car dealer.

Hello Sean (and Rajcan Surface - Whatever your true name is), The vehicle you are referring to was technically sold as a consignment through our Dealership. A fact that was disclosed to you prior to, and as part of the sale. It is something our dealership does for all of our clients in town and subject to our normal Consignment fee. It was known to you that no working staff agent of Frankman Motor Company had made any claims to the condition of this vehicle, it did not go through Frankman Motor Company's Inspection process which consists of 3 separate Inspections by heads of each of our Lot Management, Service, and Detail Departments. This was a car that was advertised privately - and Frankman Motor Company handled the Monetary transaction for so that the private seller and the private buyer could both be assured that they would each receive the funds and Title Paperwork that was due to each party. As with all Classic Cars (this one being almost 40 years old.) We strongly recommend and suggest 3rd party independent inspectors to verify the condition of a vehicle is up to the standards of the prospective buyer - this is true for all vehicles in our inventory that are owed and reconditioned by Frankman Motor Company - as well as what we advise to our customers who choose to purchase a vehicle from any other source in the country. Any vehicle of this age is of course ineligible for any sort of aftermarket service contract or warranty that we offer - and was sold AS-IS WHERE IS- NO WARRANTY. You knew all of these facts when we spoke to you on the phone and appreciated it as it was an overall better outcome for both seller and buyer for the security of the transaction. It is unfortunate that you are taking our your frustrations on our Dealership and staff when no one at our store had anything to do with your experience on said vehicle. Frustrations can occur with any classic car and some choose to exclude themselves from personal responsibility and choose to direct it at the first publicly available source. All aspects of Frankman Motor Company's involvement in this transaction were made known to you. We did not advertise this car, we did not inspect this car, we did not drive this car. We simply handled the paperwork and intermediary funds transaction so that both parties were safe in this sight unseen long distance classic car purchase.

Hello sir! We know exactly what vehicle you are referring to! The Jeep that you purchased does include (and still has) our Frankman Certified Warranty: This is an 8 Point Preferred Certified Powertrain Limited Warranty. That means it covers 8 essential parts of your car or SUV. The engine, transmission, drive axles, brake system, steering, electrical, suspension, and A/C heating system are all a part of this excellent coverage. Unfortunately, the sensor on your transfer case was not a covered item under the certification. Things like this can happen no matter the make and model or age. That is why we proudly offer a wide range of extended service contracts that can extend factory type coverage on your vehicle for up to 5 years and unlimited miles. Unfortunately this was declined at time of sale! We spend immense time and energy into reconditioning our vehicles and providing the best coverages possible to our customers at all times. This sensor that went faulty is something that is not able to be identified prior to failure; the part passed inspection months ago and at time of sale. Frankman Motor Company did everything in its power to ensure the vehicle was in full working order up until time of sale but sometimes things like this can happen.
A reputable dealer would have made an effort to help their customers out during the first 30 days of purchase. You chose to do nothing even when I offered to split the difference 50:50. And the sale was not months ago as you response says it would have been less than 30 days at failure A dealer reputation goes a long way but I see that’s not something your interested in I would have expected some help form you in some manner

First issue- I went to fill up the tank less than 24
First issue- I went to fill up the tank less than 24 hours after purchase and the vehicle started funny. The next time I filled it up a week later, it flat out wouldn't start. Had to have someone come and jump start the vehicle at the gas station and miss an appointment for my child. Frankman Motor was good about reimbursing me for the cost of the needed part and repair. Fast forward to this past week. I took time off work to go to the DMV to get the vehicle registered and licensed. They could not do it as the last names of the previous owner did not match on the title and the POA. I called the person in charge of titling at Frankman Motor and expressed my frustration, as the paperwork should have been accurate when sent to me. She assured me that she would get the needed copy of the previous owners marriage license and email me a copy. This was on Friday. I called them yesterday (Tuesday), and again, spoke to Kiara. She FORGOT to send me the needed document and assured me she was sending it right away. Well, that was yesterday and still nothing. But when it does finally arrive, I will have to now take more time of off work to once again head to the DMV. GRRRRRRR They also did not include a picture of the rust on the inside passenger front door in the online photos and I did not see the rust until the beginning of this week. I have had my vehicle for just over 1 month.

95 Corvette Pace Car Purchase
Bought a 1300 mile, 95 Corvette Pace Car through Mike. Everything went like clock work. The car(and matching go-cart) were delivered in perfect condition. They were absolutely beautiful as described. I would definitely buy another car from Frankman Motor Company.

RUST Vehicles from FrankmanThis is/was probably the...
RUST Vehicles from Frankman This is/was probably the worst experience I've ever had with a dealership in my life. I was promised a truck with "no rust," that "Frankman Motors doesn't sell those types of vehicles." Keith in Sales straight up lies to you to get the sale. The promise of "no rust" was false - I have rust inside of my car, on my frame, on my rims, and on the bumper. If you’d like to see pictures, I’d be happy to provide! I see where someone sprayed an undercoating, trying to hide other spots because it too was done poorly (maybe not be Frankman Motors, maybe previous owner). I was also told that the paint was in pristine condition, that the previous owner(s) took great care of the vehicle. You can tell someone tried to buff our the sun-stained marks on the hood of the vehicle, but they didn't even attempt to hide the stains on the roof. It's a mix of red paint and white sun stains. It’s an Excursion with a 6 inch lift, they notably left the roof pictures off their website. Pristine my butt. Had I known about the rust and paint issues, I wouldn't have purchased the vehicle. Don’t give this company your trust. Initially, I thought about spending the money to fly to South Dakota and see the truck, a 2004 Ford Excursion with 65k miles. Although Keith did welcome me up there, I felt very comfortable with the information he was able to give on the vehicle and the pictures on their website. He was able to answer all questions I had about said vehicle. Turns out he just lied. The other issues I've had: Keith told me initially that my truck would take up to 2 weeks to get to me - I live in Louisiana. Perfectly fine answer. He then told me a few days after receiving my paperwork, that it would be there in 3-4 days. Day before it was to arrive, he told me they never picked it up the day before (would take 2 days to get here) and that he was off when they didn't come, so he didn't know. No one else could call and let me know? A few days later found another driver, gave me an anticipated date of arrival. I kept checking in each day to verify, cancelled last minute. Third time he scheduled the vehicle, told me they were coming. The delivery company, which is local to Sioux Falls/SD, is a company that Frankman uses often, as I heard from Keith and the owner of the transportation company. An odd comment Keith, the salesman, made about the transportation company: “you got a bunch of white boys delivering the truck, so you'll be able to understand them.” Extremely unprofessional, seems to be a thing for this guy. Then I attempted to check in with Keith throughout the day to see where the truck was in transit, because he told me that they were coming straight to me, to then head to Texas to pickup 2 vehicles and head back to South Dakota. This was incorrect, they headed to Texas first. When I asked where they were, he said, "Apparently I'm[Keith is] clueless" and that he was "not sure what happened with routing." So, I just spent about $25k on a truck and you are "clueless" to where it is? I followed up with a text of when to expect it and received no response. Finally, I asked for the transportation company's contact info, and instead of sharing it, he told me to "be patient." Instead, I realized that I had their number from a previous call the day before because they called me the night before to ask if I would drive 7 hours to pick up my vehicle and drive it the rest of the way home, which I politely declined, as that defeated the purpose of it being delivered. So, I called them, and handled the delivery myself, never hearing from Keith again. It was the worst interaction of buying a car I've ever had. Had I just spent the money to fly to SD and see the vehicle, I would've spoken to Keith, and I think the red flags from just talking to him would've caused me to opt out from buying the vehicle simply because of the lies he was telling me about the rust and paint issues. I called the dealership and spoke to a manager by the name of Dave. I told him of the situation. After talking with the owner, he called me back to offer me $200 because I purchased the vehicle site un-seen. I told him that $200 wasn’t enough for me to fix the paint and rust, he then spoke again to the owner, and they agreed to give me $500. I was really looking for about $2,000. So I took the $500 thinking that I was tempting fate and should just cut and run. It took 2 and a half months to get my paperwork from the company to get my registration. Not 100% their fault as Hurricane Ida stopped mail, but they had me driving around with expired temp tags, just hoping the original paperwork would show up. Finally, Keira took control in the title clerk’s office handled that for me and took care of everything. Overall – just don’t ask for Keith and don’t trust that these vehicles don’t have rust unless you see it firsthand. They don’t deserve your trust.

I've collected classic cars for nearly 20 years...Most of the time, I buy with gut instinct ONLY if the dealership is willing to take nicer pics, do a video and oblige me on some reasonable requests since I am not able to fly around the country and see the car in person. I've known FRANKMAN MOTOR CARS since the 80s and I go back to the HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS era as well of the 70s. One day I was viewing some cars on the Frankman site and lo and behold I see a 91 Old's Custom Cruiser wagon. One car I've been looking for in the right condition. For the sake of dragging this review out, after numerous phone calls and going over the car with Salesperson Jesse James, his assessment of the car was to my liking. It was a total original and the rarest of the three sibling wagons ...the Buick Roadmaster, The Chevy Caprice and the Old's Custom Cruiser produced for only two years...1991-1992. After requesting a video of the Old's, Jesse arranged and filmed a sufficiently satisfying video of the Old's. Well, as it turned out I bought the car and even though everything with the Old's seemed ok, I still worried a bit that it still may not be what my eyes saw in the video and extra pics Jesse had taken which BTW, were excellent pics all to my liking and request. We made a deal. Jesse then informed me that the car would be detailed in their detail shop. It was and again Jesse shot another video of the car after detailing and sent a few pics as well of the guys at FRANKMAN machine buffing the car etc. Jesse and I stayed in touch right up until the car was delivered and he actually found me a local independent auto transporter (MIDWEST TRANSPORT) who delivered the Old's to me professionally and unscathed. I live in Idaho and was gradually becoming fed up with some transporters who barely spoke English, had little or no communication skills and treated the cars like hunks of meat....more stress and worry....but Jesse found me MIDWEST TRANSPORT-BRENDAN SULLIAVAN and Oh Happy Day!. When the Old's arrived I can honestly say that the car was EVERYTHING Jesse told me it would be and a tad more. Very happy. They serviced the Old's with a receipt as to what was done and it was done. So for some of those negative reviews I had read on FRANKMAN, all I can speak of is my experience with them and Jesse and would not hesitate to buy another car from them. It was one of the cleanest original cars I had bought and received from any dealer in a long time. Perhaps some of those sour reviews were from 'jealous rivals' ? Paul (Idaho)
