They try to rip you off on trade in. Don't bother

insulted with their offer to purchase my trade in. Total waste of time. Next dealership I went to offered me $6000 more for my trade without blinking an eye.

Hello Evan, We're sorry to hear that our trade-in offer wasn't what you had hoped for. Due to the age of your trade and the fact that we were not able to inspect your vehicle in person, we came up with a cautionary number for you. In hindsight, we should have requested that you stop in with your trade for a more accurate figure. I apologize for our hasty appraisal. Darren Spencer 920-621-4323

INEXPERIENCED SERVICE TECHS

Wrong type of oil used with my oil change even after telling them 2x to only use conventional, they put in semi-synth. And something that looks like a plug is hanging from the engine almost to the ground. Looking underneath the car it is by the passenger front tire and it wasnt hanging before the oil change because I had put in air and would have noticed it then. Bad enough to pay for bad service and then for them not only denying using the wrong oil, even though it showed it on the receipt. Then they said its okay to change the type as long as all the oil is semi-synth and not mixed. I said FU...my car manual states use conventional. Ya know...just dont go unless you want to waste your money, screw up your car and like to be really fustrated.

Bought a 2013 f150 on dec 1,2020. From village auto on 29. Had it 3 days and the transmission dropped out if 6th gear doing 65 on highway n locked up rear end found out it had a recall. Took to Broadway ford and now the display quits working periodically.

Consumer response

Yes you can call me.

OK, but...

Bought a SUV in January, it was totaled in August. The quality of the vehicle was great, the sale of it was simple and seemed to be fair. However when we started filling out the paperwork we needed some information, it was like pulling teeth to get them to respond. Then when the payout time came from GAP insurance was hilarious, we had about $4000 left, after the warranty cancellation was applied we still owed 2000. Carco gap paid a little over $1000, when I looked on the loan with what we paid for it they basically paid a few hundred bucks towards what we owed. I guess up until this point Village Auto was a good place but then when this happened I realized they're selling garbage policies to customers that don't do anything.

Bought a diesel truck from this dealership, worst decision ever. Find out that oil hadn't been change, fuel filters were terrible shape, DP Filter was 85-87% clogged. Hence I broke down on highway within 2 days after purchase, only to find out they will not stand behind any of it. Please note, I did buy truck "as-is". I am just upset, because this is the kind of quality that is on their lot and the effort they put into getting a vehicle ready for their customer. They can't even make sure the vehicle is ready for someone. Screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me. Never again. Two miles from where I live...

Tom - We take customer satisfaction seriously and it's disappointing to read about your experience. Would you be willing to give me a call? I'd like to see if there is anything that I can do to help here. Thank you, Darren Spencer - operations manager - 920-865-3085

Consumer response

Darren, I called you already on Monday, October 12th. At that time you offered nothing and basically said there wasn’t anything you could do. How or what has this changed???? I can certainly give you a call, but I am expecting YOU and Village Auto to make this right. If you have no intentions, stop trying to save face and stop wasting my time. 11/23-update- I gave Darren a call within a hour of his post. Took 3 business days to get back to me. After a lengthy conversation, he said he would see what he could do. Been crickets since the conversation. BTW... I am currently over $6500 in the hole with this truck with another $10000-$15000 to come because the motor needs to be rebuilt. 12/3 - update. Darren followed up on 11/25. Indicated he thought they could do something. Had to do some research and get back to me. On 11/30 he calls and says he found a used motor for $9500 (at my expense) and Village Auto would be willing to pay for putting it in at their cost (~3000). What a slap in the face. They still won’t own up to giving me a truck that probably had a bad turbo, needed an oil change, fuel filter change, and. DP filter that was 85-87% plugged. No ownership what so ever. I am getting blamed for not pulling over right away as soon as a wrench display is on (vehicle that is less than 4 hrs old to me)... and they say I am responsible for basically everything. I have $2625 in a DP filter, $270 in oil and fuel filter change, $1100+ in a mechanic to tell me I need a rebuilt motor and another $2500 yo pay someone to go get it in Kentucky to bring back to Wisconsin. Pathetic... for those that still decide to go to this pathetic place, bring your own mechanic... my biggest mistake was rushing my decision on a truck. Should have listened to my gut and walked away from their arrogant salesman.

Integrity

Being educated in this type of industry I appreciated Geoff's genuine character. He was professional negotiated well-, gave the personal service fixing the license plate light bulb in the rain, then setting up the many features on the VW Tiguan specific to me now that is service! He gave his word and followed through with it -which now days does not happen so thank you! I am impressed with the quality of vehicles that Village Auto takes in- if you are seeking a newer vehicle see Geoff he will listen and find the vehicle best for you.

Amazing Experience! !

Geoff Sontagg did an excellent job !! He represented Village Auto exceptionally well. They went above and beyond in satisfaction by removing the tint from the front windows and making sure the truck I bought was detailed to perfection. Fantastic dealership!!!

Excellent dealership!

Being a first time car buyer can be scary and overwhelming, but Geoff and Brenda at Village Auto made it one of the smoothest and easiest experiences ever. I purchased a 2010 Kia Soul from them and couldn’t be happier. It’s practically brand new, runs beautifully and looks great. The entire process, from the initial test drive to the actual purchase was a very pleasant and exciting experience. Geoff’s knowledge and warm, comfortable demeanor helped ease my worries, and I have never once second guessed my decision. Thank you Village Auto!
