this dealership is a scam.
this dealership is a scam. Alex Vasquez, Andrew Helvie, Emma Smith, said my loan was approved by GLS and took the money I put down. on my way to pick up the vehicle they said my loan wasn’t approved and they keeping my down payment anyway. They also falsified insurance documents to Global Lending service in my name. They don’t answer my phone calls, or texts. And now I have to file with Virginia courts to get my money back… do not buy from here they are scammers.

I had my car transferred to Jim McKay where it was
I had my car transferred to Jim McKay where it was repaired without incident in 6 to 7 business days. They completely fixed shoddy wiring done by a third party along with 20 hrs of electrical repairs. Jim Mckay is now the only dealer that will service my car from now on. It is concerning that the dealer whom I bought my car from did everything they could to let it sit and rot. It sat for 4 months because they had an issue with my insurance company. Jim Mckay really worked hard to get my car done, w/o any delay's. They provided great service and they fixed it faster than I thought possible. Thank you Charter for your honesty; and checking out was smooth and painless. A++

Where to start with this one.
Where to start with this one. I drove 6 hours to buy a car. Price started at around $26,000 and after being lied to about the bank requiring add-ons price was around $33,000. The car isn’t in good shape and I was sent home without a charger. The car was still in the other persons name so I almost couldn’t charge the car to get home. I’ve received a refund on one of the add-ons I was forced to take but I’m still out $1,000. I’ve been trying to reach out for several days now with no response. So I guess I’ll be finding someone to help with getting that back. Be aware of the bad salesman ship here!

If you're in the market for a new or used car and value
If you're in the market for a new or used car and value honesty, integrity, and genuine customer service, steer clear of Jim McKay Car Dealership. Their business model seems to be centered around deceit and misrepresentation, which is not only unprofessional but downright unethical. From the moment I set foot on their lot, I was bombarded with high-pressure sales tactics. And while I understand that car dealerships are in the business of selling, what I cannot abide is the blatant lying and manipulation that permeates throughout Jim McKay. Upon inquiring about a specific vehicle's history, I was assured that the car had never been in an accident. However, upon running a Carfax report myself, I discovered not one, but TWO accidents in the vehicle's past. When I confronted the salesperson with this information, they brushed it off, saying, "Oh, those were just minor incidents". This kind of dishonesty is not only harmful to customers but tarnishes the reputation of the car selling industry as a whole. Furthermore, their financing terms were shrouded in mystery. When I asked for a breakdown of the fees and interest rates, I was given the runaround, with vague answers and empty promises of "the best deal in town." It was only when I insisted on seeing the numbers in writing that the ugly truth of their exorbitant fees and hidden costs came to light. To any potential car buyers out there, I cannot emphasize this enough: do your research and due diligence before even thinking about purchasing from Jim McKay Car Dealership. Their practices are questionable at best and downright predatory at worst. Don't let their polished exteriors and smooth-talking salespeople fool you. There are many reputable dealerships out there that operate with transparency and honesty. Jim McKay is not one of them. Stay away and warn others.

Dear Mr. Griggs, At our establishment, we hold honesty, integrity, and the unwavering commitment to treat every customer, irrespective of their behavior or misrepresentation of our business, with the utmost respect. We sincerely regret to hear your account of what you claim is a less-than-satisfactory experience. Still, I am delighted that we upheld our well-earned reputation by treating you with the utmost respect and resolving your concerns. Unfortunately, your expectations were far beyond a reasonable threshold, so nothing we did let us achieve a satisfactory outcome for you. Respectfully, Jim McKay Chevrolet
Great sales person, everything else was awful
On the day I purchased the car, Alex was amazing. However, everything since the day I purchased the car has been nothing but a mess. - the car was listed with 2 keys. When I asked about the second, they said there was not one. Now I need to pay hundreds of dollars to get the second. - when I got home from my 2 hour drive we noticed a chip in the windshield that did not happen during that drive. They refused to address it so I am out a few hundred dollars more to fix that. - I did not receive my paperwork from the sale for a month and only after 3 emails and 11 phone calls. - the bank I signed the paperwork for the loan was not the bank that ended up financing my vehicle. No one notified me if the change. I found out when this other bank started sending me emails about my new account??? - when I finally did receive my paperwork a signature that was not mine was on this paperwork for the new bank??? - I was charged for taxes in the wrong state. - My registration transfer was never submitted so the day my temp tags expired I got a call from someone saying they were sending me a new tag and submitting my transfer request. - Now, a full 2 months after I purchased the car I got my registration and the wrong bank is listed on it. Come to find out that is where the title is... With the bank that I did NOT have a loan with??? - when I called to speak with a manager she blew off every concern I had. She never even asked my name or what car I bought. She made a ton of excuses and talked down to me like I was stupid. She kept telling me to make my payments. Why do I need to be told to make my payments? That's not even an issue! I wanted to know why everything is messed up, why a bank that I do not have an account with has the title to my car, and asked that she at the very least get the key I was promised. She refused. I said I was tempted to bring the car back and she said it would be considered a repo and they would not do anything for me. But she offered for me to trade the car in. Are you serious right now???? She ended up hanging up on me. I would NEVER recommend this dealership. They have messed up everything about the purchase of this car. Luckily I love the car because it is clear I am stuck with it no matter how much of a cluster this has been.

Horrible service!
Horrible experience each time! I've visited on multiple occasions to determine a cause for my vehicle overheating. Each time, they've done nothing and charged me a diagnostic fee! I took it to another shop and they diagnosed and fixed the problem immediately! Don't waste your money.

BUYER BE AWARE!
BUYER BE AWARE! I am giving them a one but if I could go lower I would. They post a car, I call and check if the car was there, "Yes" and drove 1:30 mins to get there only to find out the SUV SOLD sometime ago. I looked a truck, brought in my trade that I was over, I knew it, they new it but I was willing to pay the difference. The GM there put some funny math. He was trying to cheat me. If your not good a math, don't come here! They will low ball you and not even drop the price of the car your trying to buy. I made a comment about 4 inches type joke, asked me if I had gas, I answered "yes." He told me to take my car to a bridge and burn it. This is the manager, what do you think your going to be treated like if you have issues with the car or what kind of service would you get from the dealership's service center? If the manager speaks like this, can you imagine the finance department? The sad part, I was will to take a loss and buy the car/truck. The sale manager lost the sale for the salesman, Mr Paul was very nice. I have great credit and I had the money to write a check to pay everything in full. Stay away from here! Jim McKay your sale manager is giving you a reputation. Call me if you like to speak with me anytime. I will update this review, that if you care about the image your receiving from him. I will go in person and meet with you and him! Please update the people you would like me to rate, The manager is not listed, Mr Gonzales or you sales person Mr Paul Myers. I will not lie and just rate anyone. Be advised I will post your reviews on line, Google and on other means to protect people so call me/email. You have one week. If you don't care, I do!

Had a bad experience here, left a post, and then the used car manager, personally started sending texts, cursing me out, and calling me names.

This was my first time purchasing a car.
This was my first time purchasing a car. Over the 5 hours that I spent at the Jim McKay dealership, I was told many different things, including a confusing amount of fees that were different at different steps of the process. Ultimately, I sat down with the finance manager, carefully talked through the contract and we both signed it. I left the dealership Thursday overwhelmed and exhausted, but excited about driving away in a new car and confident that I had paid a price that was in the ballpark of what I had originally planned. Later that night, I received a call from a different employee claiming there was a mistake on the price in the contract that we had signed and that they "voided it." They tried to convince me to sign a new contract that would charge me $3,000 more without any extra benefits. When I asked the dealer what allowed them to void the contract without my consent, they never answered and continued to harass me, trying to pressure me to sign the new, more expensive, contract or to return the car. I was expecting the process of buying a car from a dealer to be stressful, as I had heard they employ various negotiating tactics. However, the harassing me after purchase was on an entirely different level. Be careful at this dealership. Make sure you have a signed copy before you leave.
