Car Service

Wonderful service today for an oil change and tire rotation. The young man that handled my car was super nice and kept me informed. Very good customer service from Brandon.

Run away.

Run. Run far, run fast. I don't even know where to begin on how horrendous my experiences with AutoNation VW of Columbus have been. I have purchased over 160 cars so far in my 45 years of driving. Never have I been subject to worse customer service (on the sales side, mind you, the service side, though the visits excessive, was great). This was the worst car buying experience of my lifetime. In late December 2021, I purchased a very sharp-looking, clean 2017 Tiguan. It was exactly what I wanted. A small SUV with a panoramic sunroof, Apple Car Play, and all-wheel drive. And the price was very reasonable. Within 100 miles - about 2 weeks later (I have a 1 mile commute) I noticed some oil drops on the garage floor, so I took it to the service department. Within an hour I got a call from sales asking me if I'd given any thought to trading it. Really? Then service called and said they found the leak, a seal on a turbo wastegate valve, and they would repair it for only $1600.00. Nay, nay said I. You sold me this as a "Certified" pre-owned with a 4-month warranty. "Well, it's not in the system". So of course the warranty company pushed back on the claim, as the policy for the warranty wasn't activated. After a little over a week and a visit from the insurance adjuster, they were able to put me into the first of 4 loaner cars. 2 days later, that car was sold and they put me in a new Passat. At least they were providing a loaner. When the Tiguan came home, within 24 hours there was not a drip but a puddle of oil on my garage floor. This process was repeated more times than I can say. At least 5 more. In the next several weeks they replaced the turbocharger. The upper and lower timing chain covers and seals. Then they said they had to re-seal the upper half of the motor to the lower half. Leak, leak, leak. I got nowhere trying to get sales to return this "Certified" disaster and even opened a case with corporate. They said they would look into it, and that was about 6 weeks ago. I have heard nothing. They left me no option but to work with sales on their terms, having to trade it in like I just walked in off the street about 300 miles after purchase. Took days to find anything affordable. Most cars on the website were not for retail sale which is how they make inventory look stronger. Wound up having to spend well over $6000 more on a sedan like the one my wife already has. Same make and model. No SUV. And forget about new - that inventory situation is even worse. At one point they had 2 new cars in stock. Just the worst of the worst. You're better off on Craigslist or Gil's or even Drivetime. At every opportunity, they hid behind "policy" as to what prevented them from doing the right thing. Oh, and I'm told they wholesaled the Tiguan. Easier than fixing it I guess.

Service dept

Both the operator and Brandon in service dept were very thoughtful and helpful. I felt my issue was heard and well addressed through communication despite my upset over the situation.
