Obfuscation

Overall, the dealer does what it is supposed to do, sell the car. However, they never give you a clear sales price on the car you are buying or a clear trade in value on your car. There are no prices on the windshields or anywhere. They jockey the numbers and keep the actual prices unclear. They always focus on a target monthly payment, adjusting the number on payments to get the price THEY want.

We do place prices on our new cars (the factory window sticker MSRP). We do not on our used cars because we found people drive through our lots looking at prices and we never get the opportunity to talk price reductions for cars they are interested in because they think that is the final price. Some dealers do price their cars and never negotiate. We don't do business that way. We are very aggressive in our pricing and will never lose a deal over a few hundred dollars. Pricing used cars eliminates the opportunity to speak with customers to point our feature and benefits of each car. To discuss the maintenance records. The number one reason people buy cars from dealers according to R.L. Polk, is not because of price. but because the like and trust their salesperson. You can't build true relationships over the internet or by pricing cars so people can drive in and out without speaking to our trained sales people. I like doing business the old fashion way. Person to Person and in person. That's our style. You may like it or you may not. Its my way of doing business and it has proven to be successful. Kevin T. Harris (owner)

Friendly and Helpful, smooth and easy purchase

The employees greeted me warmly, were very welcoming, helped me find cars that I was interested in. Were willing to work with me to find a price that worked for both of us. Overall, very positive experience!

Thank you. Nice to hear from someone who appreciates our efforts to please. We know generally only the unhappy customers complain. I feel the limited complaints seen here speaks well of my company when you consider how many thousands of cars we sell.

There service and Managers are the worst

Four weeks and two round trips at 50 miles each and then fixed the wrong side of truck. Then wanted me to wait for another two weeks for an appointment. General Manager swore at my wife. would rate them at -20 but that is not an option. All the manager wanted to know is why i didn't by the truck from them.

BUYER BEWARE!

Went to inquire about a car they had online, no one knew anything about it, took over a week to get the car, promises were made to get things fixed and never did, the second the paperwork is done there also done with customer service! Would rate dealer at 5 stars for giving people the run around.

Should have gotten back to me, I was ready to buy

I requested information about a Town & Country, because they don't list the prices of most of the vehicles on teh website. I was very intersted and did not hear back. The next day, I contacted Matthews and heard right back. I told them what I was looking for and they helped me find the perfect vehicle and I bought it that day.

Dealer response

My Name is Kevin Harris and the owner of the dealership. Accept my apology for our sales person not responding to you in a timely manner. I have spoken to their supervisor about this matter and it has been addressed. As much as we try to respond on a timely basis, at times for various reasons it does not always happen within the time frame the customer desires. When it comes to the sale and pricing process we are about building relationships with our customers first and foremost. Unlike some dealers who put prices on their used cars we have moved away from doing so because we know price does NOT sell cars... people sell cars. Our prices are competitively priced with every other dealer on a comparable vehicle. No two used cars are the same. We would rather spend the time focused on finding the right vehicle that suits our customer needs rather than focusing only on price. We feel it does not matter what the price is if it is the wrong vehicle to suit our customers needs. Our goal is to build a relationship for a lifetime, not just making one car sale. We never lose a deal over a few hundred dollars but would rather lose a deal over a few hundred dollars if meant selling a customer the wrong car no matter what the price. This is our selling philosophy. I realize it does not work for everyone. The fact that we have been doing business this way for 45 years tells me we must be doing something right since most of our business comes to us from repeat customers. In no case is it acceptable to me though for one of my sales staff not responding on a timely basis and if that happened I apologies for that.
