The F-150 Lightning makes the most out of an all-electric truck by combining impressive power and useful innovations with many of the characteristics that make the F-150 the bestselling vehicle in North America.

Ford Motor Co. is planning a big celebration on Tuesday, April 26, to mark the start of production of its first-ever electric pickup, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning.

Extended-range versions of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning XLT, Lariat and Pro will have 320 miles of range, according to the EPA, which exceeds the manufacturer’s initial targets.

Ford’s newcomers for 2022 include the all-electric Lightning version of the F-150, the all-new Maverick compact pickup and a Bronco Raptor performance off-roader.

Ford’s Intelligent Backup Power, in conjunction with an optional 80-amp charging station and additional equipment, can power a home for up to three days of estimated normal usage or 10 days of rationed usage.

The Ford F-150 Lightning looks a little more futuristic than its F-150 siblings, but the differences go deeper than just looks.
