Surprisingly Practical for an Impractical Car

I haven't had a fun car since college. I did the SUV thing for a while and, then, I spent almost 7 years commuting in my very reliable and practical Honda Civic Hybrid (207,000 miles and counting). I was going to buy another Honda...but, while shopping on Carvana, I ran across a beautiful Camaro. I decided to throw practicality to the wind and get a cool, fun car. Imagine my surprise at finding out it's practical, too. Sure, I'm not getting the almost 40 MPG I was getting in the Honda--but I am getting 25-28 on my commute, and that's not too shabby for a sports car. (I did get the 6-cylinder version...I'm not THAT impractical.) The car is comfortable, very cool looking, and a lot of fun to drive. That's important when you spend nearly 2 hours a day driving. Long term? We'll see. I've only had it for a week. But I really do enjoy driving it.

2014 ZL1

Great bang for the buck. Serious performance vehicle! It competes with cars costing twice as much. GM, Chevrolet did a great job with this Camaro.

Most awesome car I have ever owned!

I bought my 2014 Camara SS 2 lt on Dec 31 2014. I had went on line to find one and was contacted almost immediately by local dealer. I told them I had to have v8 and they sent me a picture of a white with orange stripes and red interior I was blown away both my favorite colors. When I got to dealership it just stood out above all but that was just the beginning. I was amazed at what the features were and a little amazed at $47000 price tag ouch. But once I drove it I had to have it. Awesome power and handling but the beauty sold it. I had just retired so after some haggling over price I gave it to myself as a retirement gift. The comments I get from people make you proud. We owned a 1997 v6 bought new but I would never buy a 6 cylinder sports car again there is no comparison to a v8. I truly love this car!

More than I expected

This is the third Camaro I've owned, and they just keep on getting better! I had a '95, a '99, and now I have a '14, bright yellow convertible. The designers and engineers at Chevrolet have outdone themselves on this new design. The same muscle car feel, yet elegant, sleek and as always, a real head turner! Way to go, Chevy! You batted a thousand again!

The Breakdown

The Chevy Camaro falls into the same group of muscle cars as the Dodge Challenger and the Ford Mustang. I prefer the Camaro over them all for several reasons, such as style, comfort and the Chevrolet brand name which is a personal preference. However there is an enormous problem with resale on all the above listed vehicles. Depreciation is the name of this problem, however it is really only specific with the v-6 models of these cars. Do yourself a huge favor and spend the extra money on the v-8 model. After all they are American muscle and the v-6 models are a shameful representation of the cars. Do the research before you purchase. Trust me I know several people who fell into the depreciation black hole with all of the above listed cars which had the "economical" v-6 option. Muscle car and economical mix like oil and water so don't drink the Kool-Aid and if you want a v-6 don't buy todays modern muscle.
